For our first outing with Terry Connor in sole charge, not a bad result.

Pretty crappy way to pick a manager though.

I watched the newcastle ~ Wolves game this afternoon. your boys showed great fight & spirit , Your manager seemed to be playing the game himself , really nice touch at the end when he made sure the players went over to the away fans.

First impressions from me , seems a good man for the job .

A sad day but expected since before the new year, being honest.

Big respect to TC for taking the reins but his time is up. What is now needed is a manager with a proven track record in the C'Ship to get us challenging for promotion next season...

From an outsider's point of view, Terry Connor has always seemed like a decent enough bloke stuffed into an unforgiving job at a more than difficult stage of the season. He didn't stand a chance, nor did Wolves really. It would have been hard enough for an experienced manager to achieve much without the chance to shake up the squad, let alone someone who is best off as a number 2.

I just hope you don't start playing well now that you've fallen though the door - need 3 points in order not to join you.

I see some fans were less than impressed by the goings on today & the visit of City hehe

Neither a fan or a real hater of your club, gooner myself.

Just seen the interveiw with connor on the web, and he was distraught poor bugger.

He was on a hiding to nothing, and of course he was gonna take the job.

You board is a disgrace and the way they went about the whole business made you a laughing stock that will hang around for a while.
Why on gods earth are you not demonstrating....it seems they got away with the whole debarcle and its you lot who have to show up to work on monday (the next year of mondays at least) and suffer the humiliation from workmates.
I have absolutely no time for MCcarthy by the way, he was a proper turd, but to have no or worse still a cheap get out plan was beyond laughable....it was a travesty.

Genuine commiserations from a Spurs fan. Wolves are a grand old club & I never like to see anyone go down. Hopefully a year to regroup & bounce back next year.

Apart from what you said about McCarthy your post is pretty much what I was going to post.

The interview with Terry Connor after the game was really hard to watch. He obviously is a "back room boy" who isn't experienced with the media and isn't trained in hiding his feelings but it was a masterpiece of dignity. He was handed a poison chalice which the experienced managers we approached had the sense and freedom to avoid. I hope to God he doesn't leave the club altogether, by all accounts he is an excellent coach, and the fact he has been around for over 10 years speaks volumes.

He hasn't relegated us, Moxey and Morgan did that when they sacked McCarthy, Morgan particularly when he barged into the dressing room and bked the players in one of Mick's last games. To over-react to the emotional impact of a heavy but ultimately meaningless local derby defeat at that stage of the season with no plan of what to do next was farcical. None of the fans that I know blame McCarthy or Connor for what has happened. None of the fans I know failed to predict what has subsequently happened.

So what next? I don't know how I feel to be honest. If we had gone down last season I would have been gutted but I don't really care this year. Maybe it is having so long to come to terms with it but when you support a team that is bottom of the Premiership it gets a bit wearing. The "glamour" of playing the big teams wears off and you get bored of losing every week and seeing the way that the league is run for the benefit of the larger teams. Of my period of being an active supporter (since the mid 80s) I have only seen us in the top division for 4 years so maybe it isn't so hard for me to have this attitude, I missed our successful period so it doesn't mean as much to me maybe, besides which I always enjoyed the championship (yes really), anyway, what does a team the size of Wolves realistically have to aspire to in the modern Premier League? Mid-table respectability and a cup run or two at best, as long as English football teams are a plaything for bored billionaires a well-run smaller team is never going to challenge.

If the board have more sense than I give them credit they will appoint someone like Chris Hughton for next season. They will keep the squad together and allow him to sell to buy and hopefully get us back at the first time of asking.

What I fear will happen is that they will sell everyone decent we have for knockdown prices (the club isn't in financial trouble or even close to it) get some highly paid has-been in to manage and resume normal service in the upper reaches of The Championship.

Terrible feeling...I should know I support Sheffield Wednesday ! hehe

It gets better...eventually

Loved the black humour at the end ...'were the the famous wolverhampton and were going to barnsley' - song of the year boys !

WW remind me of my lot, a club with massive potential but simply not sexy enough to attract the oil dollars. You, like us, have been crippled by the board for way too long and getting rid of mick with no replacement was just plain stupid, but I guess you already know that now. Personally, I think you'll be strong enough to mount a decent attempt to bounce straight back, so the best of luck with that.

Do you think we'll be able to keep young Danny Baath or will you want him back? He's done well for us this year with his highlight being keeping evans in his back pocket for the entire match at the sheffield derby.

hope to see you next season.

I think we'll go straight back up. (that's the hope anyway) Most of the squad will stick together, and other than say O'Hara and Fletcher I can't see anyone else leaving.
We're very secure financially and have a decent fan base - the entire crowd was on their feet yesterday after the performance we gave - glad there was no booing.

Whilst we dont have anyone as deserving as a spoilt Argentinian racist to wear T Shirts for it was a nice touch for the players of both teams to show support before the game clap

My thoughts exactly, although having checked a bit more I see he was sacked by Cologne after getting them relegated. Sounds ideal rolleyes
