The John Terry issue bothers me somewhat. I supported him through the previous stuff - shagging around and his race accusations, and thought he was harshly treated then.
Most previous stupid sending offs are later forgiven somewhat - Beckham, Rooney, and even a couple by Drogba. But this seems to be in a different league. Maybe because it is so recent, but part of me feels he will have to go. England captain in the summer?
Also, am I right in thinking bookings etc from the CL cannot be appealed against? Not for JT but was thinking about the others.
That's right. Mistaken identity is the only basis of a challenge allowed. The ref got it wrong is not up for discussion. Most previous stupid sending offs are later forgiven somewhat - Beckham, Rooney, and even a couple by Drogba. But this seems to be in a different league. I think the difference with Terry is that it wasn't a momentary reaction to a bad tackle, or something of that ilk. It seemed very per-meditated as he just walked over to a bloke who was no affecting him, and just kneed him for no apparent reason. I too supported him during the shagging and racism thing, but the incident yesterday just makes me think he is a cock, with no comeback. I think he'll be retiring at the end of this season anyway.
in Cahill, we have a strong young centre half who clicks with the rest of the defence, so it looks more solid from a team view.
its quite likely he will lose his trial in July, and he will have too much mud on him for any club to stick with.
I'd actually bet £10 he retires right after the CL final in May (especially if we somehow win!)

My instant reaction was to compare to Zidane. Will he be sold you think? Will he be forgiven? I think it will be forgotten over the summer, and he will remain - mainly because we won.. My other comparisons - Rooney, Beckham, Drogba we all lost but they still stayed at the top and are treated as such. (Rooney only when he plays for england I must add - otherwise he is a !)

I think a lot depends on what the outcome of the trial is. And I'm not sure that's easy to forecast. I mean look at what happened in the Gerrard case. Bang to rights on CCTV knocking seven bells out of some poor sod and he gets off.in Cahill, we have a strong young centre half who clicks with the rest of the defence, so it looks more solid from a team view.

Anyway, if he's found guilty he'll have to go, no doubt about that. But, if he isn't I can see him spending another couple of years in the first team. Earlier this season I thought he was finished - far too slow - but a lot of that had to do with the system that The Clueless One had us playing. JT hasn't looked too bad for the last couple of months IMHO.

As an Everton fan, I was never a fan of Torres, but that picture is brilliant! That was precisely how I was feeling when he was running up, onion one with the keeper. Still can't believe I got to see that game. Still stunned.
And I thought the 4-4 at the weekend was a good game!
Agreed, great picture. Although I don't remember any onions? And I thought the 4-4 at the weekend was a good game!

Really!!
Well done Chelsea, but not a flowing open classic game!!!
Defend Defend Defend Defend - Break - Score
The 'best game' doesn't have to be about flowing, etc. it is about the emotion, and the events therein. The sending off, the fairly quick 2 goals they scored, and then the stunner from whatsihisname who will miss the final. Then the valiant defense, with 10 men, in the Camp Nou against the best team in all the world. Then the fairy tale break, with the 'crap' striker getting a goal, after being one on one with their keeper, and scoring, certifying the win not on an away goal, but on outright goals. Well done Chelsea, but not a flowing open classic game!!!
Defend Defend Defend Defend - Break - Score
As I said, it was Roy of the Rovers stuff, and arguably it was the cockily behavior, and the sending off that probably meant that 'most' football fans were rooting for the 10 guys remaining.

Bit like the 99 final there. United out played all game then up comes Teddy and Ole. IF I were a neutral I'd probably say last nights game was better.
I never saw that game, I was in the middle of the bloody ocean pulling cables from over there, to over here...mattyn1 said:

Regarding selling him, if he is found guilty of racism its a 2500 fine but I imagine he would be smacked with a hefty ban, they set the bar with Suarez so a similar ban could be expected, that rules out a UK transfer, I don't know if that would be Europe wide ban or not
