The problem here is that the "meeja" in this country operate a pantomine villain policy that John Terry has been hammered by and every graceless, ill-judged, cock up that he makes is more grist to the "public stoning" he suffers from.
I have never heard anyone get the abuse that John Terry, Ashley Cole, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard get week in week out at every ground they play at, its laughable.
Its actually pretty disgusting tbh. I'm a Chelsea fan, I think some of the things JT has done in the last 10 years are pretty stupid/wrong but he gets way too much criticism for some based on perception and has had to suffer dogs abuse for it.
Last tuesday was a b....y stupid, cheap shot that nearly screwed the whole thing. But I couldn't give a rats ar.e what fans of rival football clubs think, that was the first time he's let us down on the pitch. As opposed to the 600 odd times he's been a rock including the previous wednesday.
The Wayne Bridge incident screwed England when they needed a fit, commanding leader and had qualified imperiously, but the only person who should have any beef with JT about that even assuming it was true was Toni Terry. NOT the modern Winston Bogarde himself , back up full back to the stars and Mr Frankie Sandford, Wayne Bridge. His relationship had been over for 6 months FFS! The handshake was ridiculous gallery playing pandering to the rampant witchhunt of the tabloids.
Capello sacked his leader (against his better judgement) and the rest as they say is history.
Thing is its not just one person its all the clubs stars. Can anyone who supports Spurs/West Ham/Liverpool/ QPR/ Fulham/Arsenal especially but lots of others too, tell me exactly why they scream abuse at Frank Lampard??? How is that possibly justified on any level?
And then you lot come on a thread like this and pontificate about our clubs hugely successful legends expecting us to take any of you remotely seriously.

You are having a laugh.

Munich here we come!!!

FWIW I hope that Chelsea win the trophy. Had it been MUFC in the final I wouldn't have said that!

My point was, simply, that I don't believe terry should be allowed to collect the trophy if you win it. What is so wrng with that point that you get your arses in your hand?

What, I wonder, what you have said had his sending off cost you the game on Tuesday?
If that's all you said, it would have been different. But you didn't.

If we had lost the game on Tuesday I'd have been fked off with JT for sure, but so what? Am I not allowed to get annoyed with players of the team I support? But if you're asking whether I would have wanted his head on a plate or sold this summer or benched for the rest of the season etc. then no, of course not. That would just be stupid. I've lost count of the amount of times JT has pulled us out of the st. I can easily deal with a moment of madness from him once every now and again.

Okay, happy to say I might have exaggerated a little but if on form and fitness, I'd pick any of those above Terry the way he has played this season. I certainly wouldn't take him to the Euros...
roflroflroflrofl

Now ask yourself if you imagine any of the Prem Managers would put even a third of those above JT right now. Didn't Citeh offer him £250k per week(!) only two summers ago?

Ps. Ledley King (fit). Is that an oxymoron?

BBC website saying they understand RDM is favourite for the job. What do you Chelsea fans think of this ? He's obviously done an unbelievable job uniting the team and transforming the season.

Is he the right man to build for the future though ? Can he maintain that team ethic and manage the transition of the squad? Not that some of the so called "old guard" don't look like they have plenty of life left in them!
The risk is that he does a Dalglish. Did well for 6 months with another manager's team, came in when the team were well off form. How will he perform if they start struggling next season?
I think that's a massive risk....taking over any team or indeed business when it's been mis-managed is relatively easy....you just have to do the basics.

I have never understood the abuse that Lampard gets; its beyond me why he gets any at all. He was a good midfielder, has been pretty loyal really through the years and merited his place in both the Chelsea and England teams with a fantastic scoring record.

Terry, I've mentioned above.

Cole pissed people off when, in their eyes, he ripped the arse off every single hard working person in the country when he whinged like a toddler about only getting £60k a week or whatever it was.

Drogba is one of the biggest divers in British football, up there with Suarez. His theatrics against Barca in the first leg was embarrassing, yet on Tuesday he showed what a fantastic player he is. But his diving over the past few seasons is bound to wind up opposing fans, no surprise that he takes dogs abuse really.

As for not hearing that level of abuse with anyone else, there have been a few players over the years that have taken a kicking from the crowd. Suarez is getting stick now, remember El Hadji Diouf, he was reviled everywhere he went. Ronaldo got stick from his diving days, Rooney, Barton, Savage, Wise, Keane (Roy, not Robbie) - they've all had as much abuse as your lot.

Nearly left King out tbh as he's rarely fit but on his day, he was better than Terry.

Yes, City did offer him £250k per week but they wouldn't now, would they, which is what I've based my argument on all along. What he is now, not what he was then!

He is not a great player!

No. Not now. Probably about half that, so about £125k per week (he is 31 now after all). Still, most likely more valuable than anyone on that list.

If you don't think that, given the opportunity, several other big clubs wouldn't sign him tomorrow, you're just allowing your own prejudice to cloud your judgement.

Im off to the pub. It's been fun smile

Lampard is not just a "good" midfielder he's a great midfielder with the greatest scoring record of any player in his position of all time. He has as far as I can recall never done anything that warrants any of the incredible abuse he gets everywhere he plays.
Ashley Cole is guilty of complaining publicly about his employer reneging on a promise and cheating on the nations favourite, the lovely Cheryl. He's also been , and based on his performances just this week still is , a world class left back for club and country. The abuse is just ridiculous.
Drogs dived like a tart for the first 3 years I agree but he cut it out a fair while ago domestically. The europeans play a different game and he plays it too. Remember that were talking about Sergio Busquets and Dani Alves lecturing him about play acting. Please. He's also built hospitals in his country, is a loyal family man and deserves enormous credit. Not that fat, opinionated irish idiot at Radio 5 calling him , and I quote, "A despicable human being". Jesus.

The common denominator here is Chelsea FC and the problem that most fans of some clubs have with us. With the exception of El Hadj Diouf I wouldn't say any of the others you mention get anything like the abuse our players do. And they haven't spat at anyone that I'm aware of.

Ferdinand's lawyers told him not to shake his hand? Seriously? Sounds more like people wanting to retain some back page presence than anything else. By doing this, surely they just plaster the story all over the newspapers, and prejudice the case against Terry?

Maybe it is just me being cynical, but I can't help but think this is all about publicity.

There may not have been an all spanish final in the Champions league, but there will be one in the Europa league, Atletico Madrid v Athletic Bilbao on the 9th of May, should be a cracker.

Its fair to say Terry's best days are behind him. However I still think he's one of the best and most consistent defenders in the Prem. Yes he's made a few more mistakes this season, I think fans would have to also take into account that Chelsea tried to play a different style for the first 4 or 5 months of the season, but he will leave a massive gap at Chelsea if he moves on/retires. I also still think he's one of Englands first choice defenders.

Let me give my view on the above quoted list of players. Serious injuries take a lot out of players, King and Ferdinand are a long way past their best and struggle to play over half the games in the season, nobody knows how Vidic will recover. When Terry's fit, its either Luiz or Cahill who miss out. Caulker, Jones and Smalling all have massive potential, but still have a lot to learn, Smalling's not had a great season and Jones has tailed off after Xmas but made a good start, Caulker is looking very promising though. I doubt many would argue with Kompany, Lescott has had a good season too, Vermaelen is a decent defender, but he is prone to the odd mistake, Agger and Hangeland are solid but unspectacular...

Roger Johnson (when sober) is my fav on that list... Perhaps we should start a trend on Twitter, Rogforeuro2012... roflroflroflrofl

The court case should never have been postponed in the first place.
