Panic over chaps, Eddie Newton has joined Di Matteo's management team. You'll recall West Brom sacked them last January.
I'm sure you're in good hands.

I'm sure you're in good hands. FA Cup goal in '97. I was there. Although smashed. Didn't believe it was Newton who scored though. When did he ever score?

ukwill said: So you count Ancelotti's payoff as part of AVBs axing? this gets better. More a case of including Ancelloti's payoff as part of the cost of the AVB "experiment" I think. If he hadn't sacked Ancelloti (that well known double winning manager! ) he would never have had to pay him off would he? Instead of which he's had to pay off Ancellotti, pay off Porto for AVB, and now Pay off AVB (I've excluded the manager's wages because those would have been paid out regardless of who was in the job). Daft as a brush!

Daft as a brush! But that's a pointless argument. You could say the same for any replacement manager, should they also get the chop. I don't think he should have sacked Ancelotti. But he chose to - and ultimately that's his perogative. And as such, he was going to be paying out Ancelotti regardless.

No, all it says is that's the cost of a stupid owner meddling & replacing a perfectly good manager. In fact the cost is possibly more than that if he then has to buy the next one out of his existing contract too. If he'd left Ancelotti to get on with it the club would be in a much better state & he'd be a lot better off!

If it were, you could argue that the current manager of any side cost the sum total of his earnings+pay off since he began his career. It's just ridiculous. Again, I dont think you'll find too many disagreeing about wishing Ancelotti had stayed. You're singing to the choir.

But it is the cost of the AVB "adventure" & clearly would not have been incurred at all if Ancelloti was still there today & had been left to get on with it.

I agree pretty much with what you've said but wish Carlo had the cojones to point out to the owner what a bunch of twunts he had in his team and how he needed to get rid, rather than raising his eyebrow and looking baffled.

To my mind all what you are saying is all surmised and there is no real evidence to support it.. All i can say is lets look forward to tomorrow evening and let the powers to be get on with it. Unless the managers & players of past come forward and tell all we are none the wiser. Yesterdays Chelsea is dead ..Long live the Chelsea of today and tomorrow(??

Yesterdays Chelsea is dead ..Long live the Chelsea of today and tomorrow(?? Maybe it's surmised but that's how it happened, was it not? The teams form fell away after a blistering start and there was nothing Carlo could do about it, he just looked more and more baffled. We know Carlo was a good manager, so what was the common factor? It was the players. They let him down and let us down. They should have paid the price before AVB started. Chelsea of today? What's that RDM and Eddie Newton? Shudder the thought. What does tomorrow have in store for us? Who knows, I hope Jose will return but have a bad feeling we'll be saddled with Guardiola who will be another lame duck.

Even Barca had a rough time a few years ago..Tottenham...Well most of the time ..Man U ...Well they have had their moments, and so on.. Its our rough time at present.Well yeah in the FA cup .In the Champs! Recovering for at least 3rd spot in the premiership. Its gonna be gung ho tomorrow night!! So stop being so miserable you lot..Or are you doing an impression of RA..At least he has the excuse of a incurable mental torture of remembering what life was like in the USSR of old .. (Having said that life is cheap over there still. He probably wonders when the men in long leather coats(thats hit men for the benefit of some on here)are going to do him in.)
