UEFA's stupid ruling means that a player sent off & banned from the final for violent conduct would be allowed to collect the trophy if Chelsea win it.

Wrong on all counts imo. Why should terry be allowed to do that? He got sent off for being petulant so he should not be allowed to collect the trophy.

How gutted would the 'captain on the night' be to be unable to lead the team to collect the trophy if they win it?

I hope that Chelsea do win the trophy however i also hope that club management ensure that terry does not lead the team to collect the trophy.

It would send out all the wrong signals - ie get banned for violent conduct yet be allowed to join in the celebrations.

I will now await the usual abuse for the above posting!!!

A statement read: 'If Chelsea win the 2012 UEFA Champions League Final, John Terry will be allowed to lift the trophy and collect the medal.'

Leave off senseless

JTs performances for England and Chelsea have been immense and he is/was highly regarded in all corners of the world.

Just because he shagged someone's wife and made a racist remark doesn't magically erase all his achievements.

I dont measure football in morality btw and you shouldnt either MR PERFECT

Some comments here regarding Terry are rather stupid, JT is Chelsea FC
JT is Chelsea FC? Oh purleeze. His actions have/are dragging the clubs name through the mud - does his attitude not shame you?

He shouldnt be allowed to collect the trophy for one single reason - he got sent off for violent conduct. What a 'role model' for younger players! Not.

I honestly hope that no-one uses the phrase ' i want to be like John Terry because he is a role model & a hero'.

Because he is neither of the above.

A role model is someone that people look up to & respect.

A Hero would be one of the many soldiers currently out in Afgan risking their lives on a daily basis.

He is typical of the modern day footballer. Too much money, not enough brains/talent, no respect etc etc & you can bet anything you like that, for all his badge kissing & declarations of love for the club, as soon another club offers him stupid amounts of money he will jump ship & leave.

Rather like Thierry Henry did to Arsenal - one week it was 'i love this club' etc etc etc the next week he was on his way abroad for more money.

Again i will await the brickbats & abuse.

LOL! WTF is it with you and your "..i will await the abuse" st? You're in the Chelsea thread, slating the Captain of the side, and you don't expect anything back? It's a good job PH is a fairly civil forum... (apart from EP - watch him, he'll want to fight you whistle)

JT is Chelsea in so far as he has given his all for the club since he was a youth team player. He is rare in todays football in that respect. He's a bloody great player and would most likely be any Chelsea managers 1st name on the sheet. Morals are something people that read The Guardian discuss a lot. Personally, when it comes to football, the mans a legend in the eyes of Chelsea fans. Outside of football he's an arse. But I couldn't give a toss what he does outside of the game, so long as he doesn't fiddle with kids. Football fans generally crack me up when they start preaching on about morals. LOL!

I'm just getting prepared for the abuse. Doesn't bother me at all to be honest - being a Birmingham City fan I get a lot of st as you can imagine, particularly from supporters of the doomed club on the rough side of the city!!!

He might have given his all however he is not a good advert for the club is he? Had he been sent off for a reckless tackle it would, bearing in mind I was a semi- final, have been understand. Possibly.

However to do what he did was the action of a simple minded cretin who could have cost you the game.

I'm no fan of JT far from it but you can' t knock his commitment to Chelsea or England

He had an offer to go to city a few years ago for silly money which he turned down, His fellow pro's speak highly of him which must say something about him

Personally i think he's a horrid individual , but i suspect many non Chelsea fans would like him playing for their team

rofl I thought these might be brought up

Cantona kicked the guy who racially abused him, took the ban like a man and came back a better player and person

Keano hit Haaland on purpose yes, he did not try and end his career although that it happened isnt under dispute, again he admitted what he had done

Shagging prossies is nothing new in football, shagging your teammates wife however.....

This is the thing about Terry, its never his fault he never admits to anything always trying to snivel his way out of it

I would suggest that he was the instigator of the AVB revolution as well, however bad you guys think AVB was if the players revolt its no use anyway, you may have to face no CL next year again down to Terry

rofl At least the scousers had the sense to deny Suarez did anything and therefore backed him, are you openly admitting that JT is a racist and that doesnt bother you?

Wow

If he had been honest after the game on Tuesday saying 'yes I fked up in the heat of the moment' then fair enough.

However he just spouted off loads of drivel & lied through his teeth.

Reputation thoroughly fked I would have thought which is a shame.

For what it's worth I do hope that you wing the final & I hope that de mateo gets the manage job. He deserves it.
