Thats a good signing, our defence looks very weak when not at full strength - although i thought we were after Debuchy?
I think going after Hulk is probably a mistake, we have very good options going forwards - especially if the Oscar deal comes off. Torres needs a season as first choice striker, especially with Marin, Hazard, Mata et al behind him.

We played a 4 3 3 with, supposedly, Hazard, Torres and Ramires up front. Torres as usual tried hard, Ramires was shocking, and I have no idea what Hazard was up to at all. A few nice touches on the ball, but largely anonymous. And not where he should have been all match. If he plays like that in the league, he'll be getting transferred at Xmas. RDM has some work to do before the match with Citeh, otherwise he'll be needing a calculator to keep track of the score. The defence was pitiful at Brighton, Cahill was either AWOL or ball watching all match, and Luiz looked shaky too.

True, it sounded like we were awful that match.
However, one match in the middle of the players holidays isnt necessarily indicative.
Cahill, Luiz etc finished very strongly last season, as did Mata & Ramires - I dont think they will just forget how to play football over the summer break.

pre season results mean very little, as does the mickey mouse shield in my opinion. its about fitness and viewing the squad and avoiding injuries at all costs!

Anyone see the game today? I read a brief report but it's all a bit meh. Bit worrying the defence seems to be leaky, maybe instead of chasing every attacking midfielder in the world, they should be looking at a) holding midfielder of quality b) right back c) centre back cover?

It was ok. Torres, hazard, Bertrand and Sturridge all had good games. Mikel looked very rusty along with mata.

Can't help thinking Chelsea will struggle defensively this season , they have signed some great players but they also need the honest bread n butter ones too , Terry looked well off of the pace today

Usual trolls aside, there must be some concern about the defense yesterday. There's not much time before the season begins and that deficiency has to be addressed but I get the feeling it won't be noticed until its too late ie after the transfer window closes. I guess Ivan will be out for a few games too.
