I agree, Lukaku is a top talent but it would help him if he/his agent kept quiet about possible moves, that can't help his on field performances or endear him to team mates and supporters and it betrays a lack of maturity that is sadly lacking in too many footballists these days.

The fundamental issue with Martinez is that he is trying to play like Barca on a budget, we don't have the quality to play the type of football he demands and he doesn't have a plan B for when it all goes wrong, it's a shame in one way, but if we stick with him we will be in a relegation fight next season. I am certain Lukaku and Stones will be gone, but have a feeling we will keep Barkley, no idea about Niasse but staggered that he hasn't featured for us, there is something very fishy about it, one of our biggest deals and the lad is a no show!
Yeh I can agree with that re Lukaku, but I guess it goes with the mentality of being a big fish in a small pond, he's probably the highest rated player we have, he wants to win big stuff, he's only 23, and he's probably got a greedy manager that is eager to see the money rolling in.

Niasse is apparently a dead duck, showing no talent or aptitude in training.

I'd have preferred to have kept Naismith actually.

What other candidates for replacement manager can you name that have the skills, experience and desire to come to a team like Everton? Cant think of any personally.

I think there are many better managers than Martinez out there who would come to Everton, whatever our current plight we have a big fan base, good infrastructure and a new owner in the wings who will take control in the summer. I don't for one second think we will attract a 'Mourinho' figure but I think we can and will do better than the current incumbent.

For the best part of 10 years we were a nailed on '2nd echelon' team in the PL, never good enough to be proper top 4 contenders but always in the 5-7th area. Now we are not even that, I cant see any decent manager wanting to take us on unless the guy that's bought the club has a massive pot of money that he's actually prepared to invest.

The problem is some rich people are extremely careful with their wealth. I'm not counting these chickens yet until I see some evidence of spending.

He has publicly pledged £100m and has made the stadium a priority. He hasn't got control yet and I am guessing that he is staying in the background until the deal is complete, how else can we explain the silence from the club surrounding Martinez future? I feel a little for Bobby this morning, seems every media outlet is discussing his future but the club is saying nothing, he's being hung out to dry.

What's really scary is that 100 million sounds like peanuts now when discussing PL spending.

Yes I too feel for RM. He's a good man, just his style isn't right for Everton at this time.
Needs to look at the Leicester way of making a team play to its strengths, rather than making a team play to some ideal which its not capable of.

I agree the club should not leave him hanging. If he is to go then they should sack him now, and put Big Duncan in charge for the last three games.

I wonder if we will get three points on Saturday, I mean if we cannot beat Bournmouth at home, what hope is there.

That could actually be the last straw for me,. I might actually stop supporting Everton if that happened.

Come on the Blues (Leicester play in Blue, right?)

I jokingly text an Everton supporting work mate "Martinez In!!" when they scored and immediately got a reply of "Martinez Out!!". laugh

Surely he won't survive once the season is concluded.

He will be gone I would bet a months wages on it. Just hope there is some ambition within the club to go out and get a top manager. Ok we won today but when you look at how we played, it was woeful, you can see the frustration in the players in particular the forwards because the ball just does not come quick enough, it's all to do with RM obsession of pass pass and pass again which usely ends up us losing it. To be honest Rom as complained most of the season that he does not get the ball quick enough, another reason as to why he gets so many offsides. Roberto you are a nice guy but a crap manager. Time to fk off

I don't think he's cr*p Hilly, but he has certainly lost his way (and the crowd) at Everton and I can't see how he can survive. I am not sure what to make of our board though, they have been completely silent for over a week while the press have had a field day speculating on Bobby's future, something not right and I am disappointed at the treatment he seems to be getting, it's not fair.

If the board are backing him, they would surely have made a statement by now, so the obvious assumption is that he's finished in which case I am uncomfortable watching him wriggle on the end of a hook.

So who if he goes, is a top manager and will replace him? Who will you be able to attract?

I agree and I said in a earlier post if they are going to sack him they should have done it last week, and get Duncan to finish off the last three games. I still think he will be gone but as you I do not know what they are playing at.

If Newcastle go down, could do worse than Rafa.
