I really hope Koeman works out for us, I guess we have to trust Moshiri as he has pulled out all the stops and seems likely to hand him a significant pot of cash to spend. I can understand the enmity on the south coast and hope it dies down, some silly stuff being said about backwards move and smaller club, I guess Koeman is the best placed person to judge whether it was a backward step and as for smaller club, on what planet exactly?

Well done T66ORA for calling it right again, I've heard he is Terry Darracott's love child.

Great news on RK - but how poor was Lukaku. Honestly, his agent should keep his trap shut. You cannot come out with statements that Lukaku needs a bigger club than us and then his client plays utterly crap. Even Origi was better, and I rarely, if ever, would compliment a RS player. If Lukaku wants out, good riddance!

I see Southampton fans are saying they're a bigger club than Everton and why would Koeman leave them for Everton. What quantifies a big club? League performance? Does that mean Leicester City are a bigger club than Manchester United as they finished higher in the league than them last season?

I haven't seen a single Saints fan say we're a bigger club than Everton. I've seen neutrals on Facebook and the like questioning the move, and I've seen Saints fans saying that we're a better club/proposition at the moment than Everton, which I think is a case that could be argued a lot more realistically.

The main reason Saints don't go on about being a bigger club is because:

A) We know we aren't, not by PL standards anyway
B) What qualifies as being 'bigger'? Number of likes on Facebook? Everton have sold as many season tickets for next season as our ground has capacity....including the away end. They're bigger. That's my view, but others may consider quality of the squad, facilities and infrastructure etc. It's just an opinion, no more, but the general consensus has to be that Everton are a bigger club from most people. I've even read quite a few people on footy forums who have admitted they've only been saying Everton are smaller just to get a reaction!
C) We don't give a st who thinks Saints are a big club and who doesn't. All we want from our team is full commitment that hopefully results in progression. That's what we've had for the last 6-7 years, and that's what I believe we can continue to do, as the manager has only ever been one piece in a puzzle. That's because of how the club is run.

Any Saints fan who thinks Southampton are 'bigger' than Everton is deluded, in the same way that any Everton fan who thinks Everton are 'as big/bigger' than Liverpool are deluded, then Liverpool fans to Man Utd and so on.

It doesn't matter, it's done now. I wouldn't go as far as to wish him well as I think he's been a bit of a greedy snake of questionable morals (in fact I'd like to see the silly tt crash and burn) but we had 2 good years (which you've just paid for....cheers smile ) and hopefully will have many more to come.

Hopefully we can put football's worst kept secret to bed now and everyone can move on.

Fully Agree mate.

Now, do you happen to have Pelle's number? And some of his other team mates?

Saints slightly over-performed last year, Everton underperformed. But without our sudden wealth injection then they are clubs that are in the same area in terms of performance, with Everton a bit bigger. But then again the city of Liverpool is far larger than Southampton isn't it....

Hear this one a lot. If your 'ambition' is to buy players from a club that always finishes outside the top 5.....well, Liverpool bought a load of players that finished 8th in 2014. Where did they finish last season?

I hope we don't turn onto another Man City (or even Chelsea), thinking that the club is any more special than others because a rich foreigner fancies a play thing.

Its already started mate,
The Ginger one will have to win me over, If he sts on Southampton, with European football, a chance to press on and "I`m not going anywhere" statements then runs for a bigger pay packet I have my doubts already. Hopefully thought it was that fact that the Everton's board 5 year plan was more ambitious than Southampton's and nothing to do with £6m pa salary rolleyes

Been a busy week. Really excited for the season to start.

Stuff surrounding the club seems really positive.

Even the old lady is putting on her glad rags before we move to the riverside. Every cruise ship and tourist will see us sitting on the royal blue Mersey. Will put us on the map! Cant wait!

https://www.grandoldteam.com/2016/06/16/images-goo...

New owner seems to be making the changes to tell the world we mean business. Sounds like for once we are being run properly. The stadium stuff an example. Tart Goodison up before a move to attract more inward investment? Usmanov?

Just hope we see the same positive stuff on the pitch.

Now were did I put my ale.
