If we had beaten Burnley we solid be right in the mix. Wasted opportunity.

Onward.
All teams have a few games each season that they reflect on, we are no different but I share your pain.

There's a rumour doing the rounds that Rooney is coming back, apparently from solid sources inside the club but I just cannot see it, he would be walking away from a fortune. I would have him back, though he may be fading I think he would have a very positive impact on our profile and the club in general, massive coup but I just don't see it happening.

well, its all relative isn't it? He's on what, 250k a week, but has effectively been dropped.
Perhaps he comes back on 100k a week (I know!!!) but gets a guaranteed place, shines, resurrects his England career, fulfils some childhood dreams....

perhaps he already has 'enough' money and can choose to take a cut like this.

I'm not sure its a great move for us either. Fan resentment etc, but all he needs to do is get in the team and help give Liverpool or Man United a beating and he'll be a hero again.

Only idiots would resent him for taking the opportunity to win medals and earn a fortune at United, they're the same ones who boo Barkley and got on Lukaku's back after a barren spell, they don't count. It wouldn't just be wages, the sponsorship deals he is on at United are mega.

this. get over the fact that he went to a rival that paid us good money for him. He didn't go on a free transfer. And yes, a player needs to go to a place where his talent is rewarded and offers him the opportunity to win stuff. Shame it was United but really, probably the only real choice in the PL at the time.

To be fair he didn't go to a rival. I don't think you can resent any person who leaves a club/job to better themselves and to have better opportunities.

I still standby my comment that he's past his best and we would be better investing that transfer fee and wages in to a younger player. Rooney would have a sell on value of pretty much nothing after 3 years, whereas you could end up with a player that has increased in value

Bar the result had a nice afternoon out.

Stayed for the full 93 mins. In the chelsea east stand. Went to some dive of an alehouse full next to the ground after. It was character building.

We were beyond woeful.

The truth is that Southampton as a club, flatters managers, because the club itself is very well run.

Let's see how RK does if Everton are struggling through the Xmas period.

You guys loved Martinez in his first season?

Koeman and Pochettino were both given more credit than deserved for their reign at Southampton.

Southampton is a well run club, and will continue to flatter managers.

You have some great players if Koeman figures out how to get the best out of them then you'll be just fine.

I love Barkley, would love to see him start to realise his potential, and that's from a Liverpool supporter!

You mean a slow cm who is well past his best who will not suit one bit the game your manager wants to play (high pressing) other than that then yes great signing for those who like a 'name'

Has your manager really said this?

Ronald Koeman on Lukaku: "Romelu will not have made the most of his career if he plays for Everton for the remainder of his career. He has the potential to play for a bigger club than Everton" 💩🔵

Yep he has - wow

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37928353

What do you guys think of that then ?

Sad but reality is true. He should be winning stuff, and we aren't the club that we should be.

He's going to have to spend a lot more to put us back into contention, and we just don't attract the stars needed to be to
4. We don't have your history or global support. We look pretty good on paper this season but keep losing against lesser teams.
