Why do we always lose to these ste teams when we most need to consolidate a great run?

I don't know how you can EXPECT a win from them this year. City won 1-0 at home against them and Chelsea got beat by them.
So as an Everton supporter I don't think you are in a position to say Palace are ste.
The reason why Football is great is because anything can happen on its day. Palace were better than you on Wednesday, it happens, teams just have to hope it happens only a couple of times a season.

and don't forget the 0-0 draw at palace earlier in the season where again, they outplayed Everton. Agreed that Palace were poor for the first 10 games but the turn around way more than makes up for that and their positions reflects that fact. No disrespect to Everton, they've had a great season but those who negatively criticize new teams in the PL generally need to think again. It's a game by game sport.I don't know how you can EXPECT a win from them this year. City won 1-0 at home against them and Chelsea got beat by them.

There's no denying Palace are on a great little run at the moment and well deserve to get away from the relegation fight into mid table safety. Well done to them for beating some good teams. However, ths time next year they won't be pushing for to four spot they will likely be looking over heir shoulders at the bottom four, or maybe even in it.
Calling the 'ste' was totally undeserved. We were ste last week. Going from destroying arsenal to being well beaten by a team that you must beat to claim top four credentials is the Everton way.

Why? That was exactly what most were saying at the beginning of this season (actually being written off before they'd even kicked a ball in the PL) and whilst the first few games were poor, the whole season needs to be taken into account and that can only happen after the last game has been played. Saying that, it looks like Palace have had a fantastic season, shown by the position they are in now. I'm sure they will get more points out of their last 3 games.Silver993tt said:

Why? Economics mostly I guess. We have a clear to 7 teams. Everyone else is unlikely to get into the top 7 for a substantial time period.... Yes they will upset some teams but they will still remain outside of contention over the full season. Swansea looked capable sat year, but with home crowds of 24,000 only paying £35 a game the will never be anything but a possible cup winning team.
Newcastle are e team that bucks the trend though.... 45,000 people willing to pay for disappointment ever other week is truly impressive.....
We're not exactly rolling in money, if you take a look at net spend Everton are way down the table, although our wage bill is pretty big and I really don't think we have any right to consider that we will be top 7 every season as long as Bill holds the purse strings. Palace are playing well under Pulis, pace down the flanks and solid in the middle, but they did not outplay Everton, with only 35% possession they were able to make their breaks count and the result was a real blow, I personally think the pressure got to us.
I hope we can put in another Arsenal type performance today, it would be great to show Moyes what we're capable of and I really hope the crowd focus on us and not Moyes, show some class boys.

Here are the statistics for the last 5 Palace games regarding posession:Chelsea 67% - Palace 33% (win)
Cardiff 63% - Palace 37% (win)
A Villa 57% - Palace 43% (win)
Everton 69% - Palace 31% (win)
West Hm 65% - Palace 35% (win)
There is a clear trend that the strategy they have adopted isn't possession and realistically they leave the opposition in their own half with the ball mostly unchallenged. I think that possession in one's own half shouldn't be counted, only when in the oppositions half for true effective possession impact.
Palace will leave the opposition to play with the ball in their own half, concentrate on defending their half and attempt to score on the break. Sounds easy and is working very well but organising a rock solid defense that needs to concentrate for 90mins is the hard part.

You need to remember that Palace don't have any 'star' players, the whole squad cost less than £20m. That has a beneficial effect in creating a team atmosphere (installed by the right type of manager) rather than having individual 'star' players playingthe way they think they should because of who they are. The club doesn't have a huge wage bill. Of course this will probably increase next year to a certain extent but the current owners are very astute business men and local who understand the game/business very well (they were ordinary supporters before buying the club). There is also the fact that a significant amount of money has come into the club this season and now guaranteed for next season.Swansea looked capable sat year, but with home crowds of 24,000 only paying £35 a game the will never be anything but a possible cup winning team.

I think Everton will make top 7 most years.
In terms of squad and manager it probably goes
City
Chelsea
Liverpool
Arsenal
United
Everton
Tottenham
There aren't any others that will break into that 7.
What happens next year when Lukaku and Deulafeo go? You will have to spend and I don't think you will get top 4. That will damage the transfer kitty.
Draws with Utd and City I think you will get.

I'm surprised that some big money has never come into the team. I would have thought a team with our history, support and potential would have attracted some investment from somewhere.
There are two points going against us for attracting big investment 1) living in the shadows of the Red ste and no 2 is our Stadium it's just to shabby looking and will need massive investment on its own. I sat in the Lower Bullens stand on Wednesday it was like watching the match through a letterbox, also it's restricted viewing and do not forget it's still a wooden stand.
