Thought that was it after he couldn't get on the end of that sitter.

Then thought the flag was up after he headed in, I think he did as well. biggrin

Its got to the point where I'm considering not renewing my season ticket, yesterday was a disgrace again! Anyone else notice that Pardew disappeared well before the final whistle! I always though we should stick it out with him as a manager but given the number of times the players have capitulated in matches recently I think he's lost the dressing room and should be sacked.

if the reports in the Sunday people are true that Ashley wants Rangers then the reason for our lack of ambition may lay in the fact that he can't own 2 clubs who compete in the same competitions,so the answer is just keep the Toon in the mid table with no risk of challenging for a cup so they won't ever be in europe so no conflict!

I do agree, I think Pardew has lost the team a little. The team seem like they've gone in Summer holiday mode and can't be bothered. The Southampton game was a disgrace, and I thought they'd put up a fight against Man U... how wrong was I.

I also agree on sticking it out with a manager, BUT, if they were to get rid of him (unlikely) now is the time to do it. For the record I have no idea who you would realistically get in to replace him.

My assessment of our squad - Keep or Bin.

Goalkeepers

Krul - Keep
Rob Elliot - Bin, he reminds me of a pub player, slightly podgy and slow
Alnwick - Keep - we need a 3rd choice keeper

Defenders

Coloccini - Keep - despite playing like an absolute donkey against United, he has been a great player on several occasions but we may not have a choice as I think his heart is set on returning to Argentina.

Santon - Keep - Good player when played in position
Williamson - Keep - Has stepped up this season and looks much more assured
Yanga-Mbiwa - Bin - I had high hopes but he reminds of a mix between Steve Taylor and Jean Alain Boumsong
Ryan Taylor - Keep - He is a good player when he plays but seems to be massively injury prone
Haidara - Keep - Good player and prospect
Debuchy - Keep - Has been one of our stand out players this season but we may not have a choice as he may want to play for a team that has aspirations and ability to actually win a trophy
S Taylor - Bin - He has had so many blooming chances and still looks like a malcoordinated misfit
Good - Keep - untried at senior level but appears to perform well both in lower divisions / internationally
Dummett - Keep - Good prospect and local lad
Streete - Keep - Squad Player

Midfield
Sissoko - Keep - Really rate the lad but needs to be given the license to attack, too many times he has to pick up the ball too deep
Anita - Keep - Great player but may look to leave himself
10 Ben Arfa - Keep - Enigmatic impact player
15 Gosling - Bin - Useless, best thing he ever did was score in the merseyside derby for everton - done fook all for us
20 Bigirimana - Keep - Good lad when he is given any games
22 Marveaux - Keep - Very good player but should be given a chance
24 Tioté - Keep - Boom Boom Cheick Cheick the Room - Keep forever
25 Obertan - Bin, should have been sold for glue. Bloomin cart horse!

Forwards
9 Cissé - Bin - Can't hit a barn door, can't create his own chances, can't dribble, looks out of place, lives offside
11 Gouffran - keep - good player and hard working chap
14 Remy - Keep - But we won't be able to, the big boys will come in. He has been the difference when he plays.
18 de Jong - Bin - In the mould of Jon Dahl Tomasson, Andreas Anderson, Albert Luque, Carl Cort - either they are sh11t or tyneside does something to them?
23 Sh Ameobi - Bin - Too many chances for this unprolific hanger on - 'Oh shola, wo oh oh, Oh shola, wo oh oh , he's going to brazil cos he's fckin brill' etc. Actually, I can imagine him scoin loads for nigeria - you can see it now!
28 Sa Ameobi - Keep - Better than his brother but squad player
43 Armstrong - Keep - Supposed to be the next best thing, at lower levels, but pardew won't play him.

Im a very unhappy NUFC fan - wasted time / money watching us play this season.

On a positive note, I did see us win at Spurs, WestHam, Old Trafford and Palace.

Not all a disaster

Horrific performance yet again, what annoyed me most was Pardew's interview in which he is all excuses however he has no balls to say we need to strengthen the squad and fill that gap where Cabaye was and we need to buy a striker.
He really is a puppet with no backbone, I have lost all faith in the bloke.

Think that the last 2 weeks in particular have been abject performances from your team. The one last week against my team where you lost 4-0 was beyond poor. I know there is nothing really to play for apart from £1m in prize money, but the manner of the defeats has been poor.

As fans we all expect more from the players who sometimes seem to lack the passion and drive which we expect as fans. Not sure how much is Pardew and how much is the players, but hope that you have a solid end to the season and that the overpaid stars give something back to the fans in terms of performances

Just so sick and tired of the whole Ashley regime now. On the bright side I enjoyed my evening out at White Hart Lane last night!

Cissé - Bin - He's had his chances
de Jong - Bin - He could still come good, but unlikely
Sh Ameobi - Bin - Still in the squad purely for sentimental reasons
Agree with all of these, bar Yanga. He has improved a lot this season and I think he'll become a solid defender for us in the future.

We need to shift some of the dross and pick up another a few sensible replacements.

I think what we really need is:

C.Defender - A solid defender, nothing flashy but someone who can put in a shift and tackle without getting sent off (£4-5m)

Playmaking Midfield - We need a creative midfielder who can take a free kick and push the ball forward. Needs to be attacking minded and able to lead. Jesus, we really need Cabaye back... (£10m)

Striker - Someone who can score goals, rather than the 3 we currently have that don't (£15-20m)

So I reckon we need to spend at least £35m to get us into a sensible position; even then that will only keep us just above mid-table.

If you want to go higher than that i.e. Europa or (dare I say it) CL, then another £20-30m on an additional striker and midfield/defender. With that and a fair amount of luck, we could pull a top 6 finish.

No drive at the minute though and I don't think it's going to get any better. I think Pards should look to play Cisse as much as possible for the rest of the season in the hope that he starts scoring again, then we can sell him for a decent amount.

Pardew did say that when Cabaye was first sold, he did say that they needed to spend in the summer, however we aren't in a transfer window so he can't do anything about that at the moment. Using the excuse that we have a weakened squad week in week out would be just as negative, and would give the players a perfect excuse for their dire performances. It's not about having the balls, it's about trying to motivate a club who is getting stuffed every week.

Remember, Pardew is the only person at NUFC who has the balls to actually face the press.

Pardew isn't blameless, his performance at Hull has significantly unsettled the team, but the problem can equally be directed at the players and the owner. There's a lack of ambition at every level.

Papers hinting at him going in for Micah Richards in the summer. I'd be happy with that!

You need to work on your attitude; as a Toon fan you should be asking:

Who is leaving to fund the buy? hehe

All very true.

It's not just the fans that are feeling negative about the future and the running of the club, it's the players too. The Man Utd game was a perfect example of this; that was a game you would usually expect the players to come out all guns blazing. We love playing the bigger boys and proving people wrong, but we did not look geared up this time round.

This will prove an even bigger problem come the summer, as which players are going to want to come to a club that shows very little ambition? We might sign a few, but they will be the ones that noone else is looking at. We can't/won't offer big fees or wages, so where is the incentive?

The reason we have picked up so many players from France is due to Ben Arfa (signing him after a leg break) and grabbing a 5th place finish a few seasons back. Now we are sitting mid-table and look destined to do so for the next few seasons.

I don't want the club to piss money up the wall; I agree with the way Ashley is managing the clubs finances, but in order to make progress we need a st hot scouting network and be able to offer players the chance to play at a high level.

If the chronicle is to be believed then the article stressing that we are only going to sign 1 or 2 players a season suggests to me that we will struggle next season given the under performance we have seen from our current squad. Still with all the money they will save adopting this approach it will allow them to pay back a large amount of ashley's loan.

How many people are planning to re-new their season tickets?

I know more than a few who have decided enough is enough - watching average players not giving their best week in week out and paying to see it!

I have watched us play away 5 times this season and we have won 4 lost 1 - incredible really.

I am however considering not bothering to watch anymore games until I am convinced we will look to sign some decent players.

I gave up the season ticket some time ago.

Do I regret it? Yes.

Was it the right decision? Also yes.

I truly wish it wasn't though.

Carlton, you may find it's like picking at a scab, wrong, but hard to do.

Pete I've been buying mine in 3 year blocks but this time I'm thinking of just a one year deal, as much as I hate the lack of ambition I'm still (maybe foolishly)living in hope!
it will be interesting to see what the gates are like next season because like you there are a few guys that sit around me who aren't renewing.
Still the money I save on a one year deal as opposed to 3 years will help get the TVR back on the road smile

Anyone read Rob Lee's article in the Chronicle? the guy makes a lot of sense, wonder if he fancies management!!
