Saw a stat last night that's quite telling. In the 7 years before fat cashley we failed to score 50 points in a prem season once. In the 7 years since we've only managed over 50 points once.
How poor did those extra points make you though? 100m+ debt and not that much to show for it.
I suspect your owner is good at surrounding himself with good quality sycophants rather than any slight hint of genius, but you'd be stuffed without him.

Pardew - Odd one, very pendulum.

In fairness we have less debt now than ever and we actually turn a profit; this comes at a cost though...

Nope, Ashley is a very good businessman and knows exactly what he is doing. He's running the club lean and doing just enough to keep us buoyant and turning a profit.

He doesn't really care about the football, more the platform it gives his brand.

Not that odd to be honest, he has one tactic. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The quality of some of the players is why we are still top 10, not fighting to stay up.

Article in the Telegraph supports some of the thinking on this forum, if we lose on Saturday I think Pardew will be sacked, if we win or draw he will probably stay. Whats interesting is the article states Ashley tried to get Moyes twice before so third time lucky? Prior to Moyes Man U adventure I would have said it was a good call but I'm not sure now. not so much because Man U sacked him, more the fact that Everton have stepped up their game with the appointment of Martinez, who saw that coming other than kenworthy?

So who's the manager that will give us beautiful/winning football?

Seriously, ANYONE other than pardew would be an improvement. I saw no fight from any player really in the Arsenal match ... I know it's the end of the season and you're mid-table and fighting for nothing, but it's always nice to get results against the top four clubs ...

Pardew is just dreadful. He couldn't inspire my cat.

I think Pardew is gone whatever the result on Saturday; it's gone too far now and it is very unlikely the fans will forgive and forget.

I had heard about us being in for Moyes a few years back. Personally I fully support him coming in as manager, but I doubt it will happen. After his stint at Man Utd, he'll probably opt for 6/12 months out of the public eye.

These are the current managers and associated odds being touted by the bookies:

Moyes 13/5
Bruce 9/2
Laudrup 14/1
Koeman 14/1
Pulis 16/1
Clark 20/1
Kinnear 20/1
Paolo di Canio 33/1

My top 3 from that list Moyes, Koeman and Laudrup. Koeman is a bit of a risk though, as he doesn't have PL experience.

Managerial win percentage:

Moyes - 44.58%
Bruce - 37.61%
Laudrup - 44.41%
Koeman - 55.49%
Pulis - 36.85%
Clark - 31.67%
Kinnear - 33.19%
Paolo di Canio - 52.78%

Lets hope they sack Pardew off and then we can see whose interested, sadly NUFC is a bit of a poison chalice due to Ashley. This could scare off a few potentially good managers.

I know what you mean Beaver King Newcastle look like they are more trouble than they're worth but its still an opportunity to manage in the premier league so there has got to be good managers out there that will jump at the chance.
I reckon Moyes will want to get back asap because he will feel he has something to prove, Ashley will want him because at Everton he showed he could make do with little to no money invested in the team so Newcastle spending a bit each season (fingers crossed!)is a step up from what he had at Everton.

Indeed, Newcastle would be a really good opportunity for someone looking to make a name for themselves.

I understand your point about Moyes, but the guy has taken a battering over the last few months and I doubt he'd want to jump straight back into a situation that leaves him open to more criticism. I hope I'm wrong...

I honestly feel with the right investment in the summer and a new manager, we could do well next season. We have a pretty good squad (if not a little small) and signing a decent striker and creative midfielder would probably see us push for a spot just out of the top 6.

We are massively failing tactically at the minute, but when we're 'on', we can beat some of the best. We just need a manager who knows how to motivate and utilise the existing squad properly.

Wildcard - Steve McLaren.

Dragged an average Boro team to a UEFA cup final, and a Carling Cup win. Lives in the North East. Experienced in Europe. Probably available cheaply if Derby don't get promoted. We could do worse.

My worry with Moyes would be him promoting youth players.

Pardew is a gonner...

This is my opinion on the club and appears to be quite different to some of the other comments.

Firstly I think selling Cabaye was the straw that broke the camels back.
Since Ashley arrived he's sold good players and replaced them with nothing. This will continue until the club has nothing left to give and he sells up.
That point has almost come.
I think in the summer he'll sell what ever dead wood is left that he can get a few ££ for (as well as letting go of Remy), the club will be on its knees, he will then sell the club and move onto doing the same at Rangers.

Pardew - is there as he owes Ashley and as much as he'd like to leave he cant afford to. He'll be there a bit longer as Ashley's media puppet.

Moyes - Not a chance that he is stupid enough to come here.

I hope I'm wrong.

I'm going to stick a tenner on a Newcastle win at Anfield.
The odds must be long enough that, if we win, I'll be able to buy Ashley out...

FYI, as a welshman and living in Wales I know several Swans fans who were really pleased to see the back of Laudrup.

The word is that training was a joke under him, he couldn't motivate the players and Swansea's dip this season has been extremely reminiscent of Newcastle's last season has it not?

I have to say none of the names in your post excite me in the least. It's not working out for them but Fulham have shown that even when you're struggling you can go out an get a big name manager. I'd like to see a proven winner appointed but it's unlikely any of them would agree to work for Ashley.

Don't think Pardew would want the job as I can see him locking horns with Ashley.

Yep as a Swans fan I think we'd be in the relegation zone with Laudrop. He wouldn't of been able to pull the boys out of the slump. He had some fantastic signings but things weren't gelling well under him and we were on a very slippery slope.

PH Exclusive! Mr Pardew was in M&S Ducati today on Westgate Road looking at a Harley 1200.
Could it be he's looking to make a noisy, 40mph, born-to-be-wild-style getaway?

So the club have come out and stated that cup competitions will not be a priority next season the argument being that those clubs that win a cup outside of the top 6 are likely to get relegated!
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/foot...

I guess I live in hope that we might win silverware in my life time but now I'm resigned to the club not having ambition and see Newcastle as just in football to make money.

So who's not renewing their season ticket?

I think I'm just going to get tickets some games and ditch the season ticket.
