Agreed there Ellroy; the amount of wrestling / holding / blatant fouling at corners and free kicks is just ridiculous. Though no excuse for throwing an arm.

Saying that, I think the Everton fella should have walked for the challenge which flattened Sissoko after he'd made Barry look like a mug, so swings and roundabouts.

The overall performance was one of graft and just enough guille. Especially after going 1-0 down early doors.

We look a lot better without Ameobi on the pitch. Perez looking a lot more comfortable and effective playing behind a striker than as the front man himself.

All in all a decent end to the year.

As for Pardew, well I hope he stays. The available alternatives are too frightening to contemplate.

Agree, none of those out-of-work managers available would do anything to move Newcastle forward, the instability would be detrimental if anything. Hopefully it's just paper talk....

Although I'm not about to start feeling sorry for him, Pardew will know he's approaching the January transfer window knowing there is every possibility we'll sell our best players. I can see Sissoko going which will leave a massive hole. Pardew takes all the flack when we lose, sometimes justifiably, sometimes not, but never seems to be given any credit when we win. OK, he compensated well financially, but it can't be the most enjoyable job in the world.

Really proud of the lads for pulling it back at 1-0 down, considering we usually fall apart when we conced.

Perez is going to be a world beater if he keeps progressing at this rate. I was at the Man Utd game and the defence couldn't contain him; unfortunately he still needs to work on his finishing.

Pardew to go....?

Not sure how I feel about that; he's a complete wker at times but 'better the devil you know....'.

I'll only celebrate his absence if we replace him with a better manager. Pulis et al will be a step down or across, which won't cancel out the effect of the manager leaving mid season.

Bookies have Frank de Boer as current favourite. I would gladly have him, but I think it will fall through.

According to Talk-sport the compensation has been agreed but discussions are ongoing, same news from sky. I find myself moving from worrying about our form under Pards to praying Ashley doesn't bring back Kinear!

Anything, and I mean absolutely anything is possible with Ashley at the helm!

Seems like a strange move unless he really hates it at Newcastle. I know he played at Palace, but they look like a poor team and it's a step backwards in football terms.

He's gone now as far as I'm concerned and I'm not overly sad to see him leave.

I suspect it's his 'club' and being back daaaarn saaarf that's the attraction.

Please God not JFK.

Who the hell will come in I wonder?

I'm a little bit betwixt and between with my feelings on Pardew.

I'm more concerned I'm seeing Tony Pulis' name connected with the job.

Whatever happens, the Pardew Out and Ashley Out Facebook pages are going to be well worth a read over the coming days hehe

I can hear the mouth-breathers starting to foam from the lips already...

Apparently Pardew was told that Sissoko would be sold in January and that no funds would be available for transfers. He's probably sick to the back teeth of the whole club. Who can blame him?

As Oliver Kay commented on Twitter, it's hard to imagine many more damning indictments of the Ashley regime at Newcastle than losing Alan Pardew to Crystal Palace.

If this is true, http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/crysta... combined with Ashley selling your best players and the PardewOut lot. It suddenly looks like an easy decision.

+1. I know he was a pleb at times but most managers are, but it is hard to see how any manager could have achiveved more with this joke of club management. I say this as Liverpool fan who lived through the the Hicks/Gilette years so you have my sympathy being run by the clown Ashley. Crazy for fans to want AP out imho

LOL got to laugh at the " joke of club" comment.

Suggest returning to volume (insert number here) of the Liverpool thread and placing comments there smile

Seems bizarre to me too, Ashley is weird but Palace must be heading for relegation I would have thought.

Basically looks like a done deal now, the club's official Twitter account has just tweeted that compensation has been agreed and permission has been given for talks to proceed.

Well I criticised Pardew early in the season, however praised him when he turned it around. I wouldn't be surprised if he left as he continually has the rug pulled from underneath him by Ashley.

Id rather see him stay as I think he has steadied the ship and I think things seem settled from the playing staff which is partly down to management.

The one person we do need to leave the club is still at the helm. Until Ashley leaves we will be in a continual cycle of being a mid to lower table selling club with no ambition. The Aston Villa of the north.

This is why I have watched a combined 90 minutes of football this season. I'll start giving a toss again when there's a whiff of ambition.
