The players on the pitch to today have the qualities to be much much better than where they are now, its got to be the ideas conveyed on the pitch. I had high hopes that we could get some stability with Steve Mac and I like the fella, but even when losing you have to show desire, application and some hope. He's got pretty much the hardest start he could have asked for with what looks like another 2 defeats to come.
We are a million miles away from the top 8 finish the board has targeted, getting out of the bottom 8 would be a start!

Chelsea and Man City next......... Can we really get any thing from these matches playing as we are?
It's up to the manager to install beleuf in his team..... McLaren is not the man for Newcastle!

Oh well I was almost right... still half way through sept and we are on 2 points... getting beat this eve by West Ham... may be pick up points against Watford but Chelsea can't wait to get their first win against up in a few games...

Here we go... already beaten 2-0....... the next 2/3 matches will be the same... so we will be on 1 point at the end of Sept... lets hope there are worse teams so we are not rooted to the bottom of the table!
Given Chelsea's start under normal circumstances you'd like to think we'd have s chance of something, but I have no confidence at all that this is the case.
As for Man City away? A snowball in hell's chance.
It's going to be a long season and I hope to God we can get in someone who can keep us up come January at this rate.
But if you were Charlie Austen, for example, would you want to come at this point?

Think Big Sam is available but you might have to go into a bidding war with Villa to get him!As for Man City away? A snowball in hell's chance.

What we need is a guy with a proven record of being a tough player, someone who has won things, a disciplinarian. A manager the players can respect.
Gentlemen, may I present to you Mr Graeme Souness.

Utter garbage.
Watford, fking Watford? At home?
Maybe if the fans and players paid a little respect to 'fking Watford' and didn't turn up expecting the 3 points on a plate then it would have been different. Watford, fking Watford? At home?
Only one team has beaten us this season, Man City at their place.
This is not the same Watford that came up the last two times and were incapable of fighting for their place.
Over the last few years the EPL has changed. The title is won with fewer points, mid table is much more tightly grouped and the drop zone is wider.
Newcastle must not take EPL status as a given. Newly promoted clubs are going full on for wins, home and away.
Looking down, who will do worse? Sunderland, Stoke, Norwich, Villa? Not many if you are careless.
The NE needs two or three big clubs - in the EPL. Keeps us on the map regardless of allegiance. I'm worried that both Newcastle and Sunderland are on borrowed time.
