I'm not defending McLaren and his tactics, but I don't think it would matter much who was in charge. There are simply too many players right now who don't want to play for the club.

It's been that way for more than a year and it'll take a while for that hangover to clear.

It'll take many more new players.

What is going on with NE clubs?
Rivalries aside, Sunderland need millions spending and have too many players on ridiculous contracts.

Anyway, the derby is round the corner and its going to get a whole lot worse for one of us.

It pains me to say it but the only way I can ever see this whole mess being sorted is by dropping down to League 1. I've accepted that we'll be a Championship club next year but I can't see it making much difference we'll still have an eye on the Premier League and it will lead to the same dross. The whole club is rotten and it needs a severe kick up the arse. There seems to be this perception that Newcastle fans have dreams of grandeur and are deluded. Not me I just want to see the players play for the club with pride. I don't care if we become a yo-yo club or never see the Premier League again. I am so envious of clubs like Southampton, Swansea, Bournemouth and Leicester.

I'd not be too concerned to be honest. I predict Sunderland will carry on with their habbit of doing badly, sacking the manager (just before the derby) and it will spur them on. They'll end up defying all odds and just staying up on the last day.

Us on the other hand, will end up drifting further and further away from the sort of teams we should be competing with. I was really unhappy with McClaren's appointment as he has form picking odd formations and persisting with players he shouldn't but I got behind him and was pleased to see some new faces at the club. It's obvious his approach is not working but it's a case of do you get rid now and risk sinking further or do you stick with him and give him time, again the risk is we end up sinking further. Trying to be optomistic but given our next two games, I can see us being so far behind that when we play a team we should pick up points against, our confidence will be so low that we'll end up in real trouble.

A myth perpetuated by the media who are, because it's their modus operandi, only interested in interviewing the foamy-mouthed brigade (and the odd horse puncher) who have nothing else to do than stand around outside the ground on non-match days waiting to get all foamy mouthed and coat the medias tar brush.

My own delusions of grandeur extend only to my desire to witness desire and pride from the playing staff. Not for the club, the shirt or the fans, or any other false gods but, first and foremost, for themselves. The past two games have shown little to suggest there are enough in the squad who are ready, willing and able to do that.

Maybe the £50k a week takes the sting out of it for them and dulls down the conscience enough to crank the handle again the next game.

I said this before and charlie nicholas said as much last night - How can newcastle fans identify with the club as it is now?

If I were involved in that set up frankly i'd be embarrassed - a slide into too many foreign players who could hardly care less (this is not just a problem this season) lack of local talent and a below standard back room (I seem to recall newcastle carry inumerable injuries over recent seasons and yes that is part of the player's responsibility to look after themselves but the back room has to take some responsibility for player perparation and injury prevention in the modern game)

the fans to their eternal credit turn up in huge numbers each week and put up with this garbage? this club has to refind its place...

Start fighting? according to mclaren? start bailing more like, unless some holes are plugged quickly its going to go very badly wrong...

LFC fan here but havr fond memories of Newcastle under Keegan.

The saddest thing for me was watching you kick lumps out of Arsenal earlier in the season. It was horrible to watch and not how Newcastle should be playing.

Swansea manage to play attractive football without loads of money, so it can be done.

Throwing money and players at the problem isn't going to solve it I'm afraid.

It seems from an outsiders perspective that Mike Ashley's big spend in the summer is to try and win over the fans and try and make up for years of under investment, but some of the players purchased you do scratch your head and think WTF.

Why did McClaren not buy Charlie Austin? A snip at 15m and would have scored you goals. No they buy an unproven player who has decided getting red cards is more fun.

The club needs to be stripped back, clear out all the deadwood and start again, and i dont think Ashley is the person to do that. The club will always be well supported but lots and lots of bandaids have been applied over the last few seasons and maybe getting relegated might be the best option.

I think the jury is out on McClaren as well. Great coach but rubbish manager. Only done well in Holland and thats it. Rest of the clubs he has resigned or been sacked. Not the best CV for a big club like Newcastle that need someone to turn it around.

If someone would be kind and tell me what the joke is I'd be really grateful, as for me the humour is really wearing a little thin.

We have a rubbish record at the Sports Direct Arena, but I'm looking forward to Saturday. We might actually come away with something if your current form continues.

(now watch Newcastle play brilliantly and thrash us).

interesting but I also meant historically over recent seasons it just seemed that newcastle had more injuries than other teams....

its getting as bad as watching villa watching newcastle.

Are fans regretting the Pardew exit now?

I seem to recall, probably a decade or more ago, the training pitch was getting the blame for the surprising number of injuries, mainly hamstrings, Newcastle were suffering. It's far from a new phenomenon and probably just means the back room has been ste for that long.

I don't regret Alan Pardew leaving. His time had come. The man looked worn down and spent, as you'd expect from standing on the touchline being the very visible focal point for the 'fans' hatred of Mike Ashley and his business model. Palace came along with an offer he couldn't refuse. I wish him all the best.

I regret the vehement manner in which the 'fans' vented their collective spleens. It's never nice to witness the "XXXX OUT!" banners & chants. Especially when the bluff is called and we're left with a muppet in charge who almost gets us relegated and undoubtedly causes a lot of damage to player morale with his less-than-developed man management skills. The fkwit.
