And now not surprisingly Given's agent says he feels like leaving. I hope its only a statement as a kick up the arse of the board as the transfer window begins. Although if he does leave I don't think anyone can begrudge him going to a bigger club. He's like Shearer - he should have a cabinet full of trophies by now. TBH, he's a far better player than our club deserves at this point in time. Harper is one of the best deputies in the league, but without Given I'd be fearing for Premiership survival.
If Ashley doesn't fund some spending this winter, the club could drop and he's going to loose a hell of a lot more money on it. A bigger squad is needed, for a start having some full-backs since the only two there are injured!

As much as I dislike Newcastle (I'm a Sunderland fan), Given is the best keeper in the EPL.

yes, clearly, that showed in the 5-1 drubbing by us...

reina, cech are much better keepers, regardless of a good defence or not....

It should have been about 15-1 without Given.

So the Toon have signed Peter Lovenkrands for a trial. Sounds reminiscent of Onyewu a few season ago. Do things on the cheap with the option to get-rid.
You'd think they could find a player other than one that's only come looking because he's had his contract terminated by his club. And one that's been at the gates of St James's before only to decide Ibrox offered more money.
