They laughed at work on Friday when I said it wasn't clear cut and would be a tough game.

Deadline day.

Will anything happen? Or will it be inevitable, boring, damp squib?

Place your bets gentlemen.

You're sitting second in your league with a nice buffer on third. You clearly have a good enough squad to get promotion, I reckon you'd be better off saving your money till next season.

I sort of agree, but at the same time it would be good to bed in a couple of premier league standard players ahead of next season. This assumes we do go up, which is by no means guaranteed, but does look probable.

Plus other teams are strengening, so you have to try at least keep the gap.

Tiote off to China it seems. Kerrrrrrchiiiinnng!

He turned out for Palace tonight I believe, so no real surprise.

If we fail to get promotion now there will be serious questions asked about why we didn't take our chance to strengthen.

The existing squad is more than capable of getting promotion, if we don't it won't be due to a lack of quality players in the squad.

The real opportunity lost is to bring in better players for the Premiership on the hope that we do get promotion. From player sales alone and ignoring savings off the wage bill, there must be at least £50m in Raffa's kitty but rest assured every agent with a quality player to sell in the summer will know that and the prices will inflate accordingly.

Think maybe Ashley-itis is setting in again (hope not) he's missing buying cheap young-un's to buy and sell on to make a nice profit, after all he's just a wheeler dealer .., leopard's and spot's spring to mind.

Very annoying game and we seemed to go to sleep after we scored the first goal.
Perez for me should not be playing.

As lazy and sloppy a display as I've ever seen and we were rightly punished for it.

Oh come on, i think its fair to say it was poor, but not so poor as some in recent memory, most of last season for example.

Immpossible to be as bad as last season but the attitude sucked yesterday, its as if they expected to be gifted the game.
They were falling at the slightest touch, at one time within 10 seconds three of them were on the ground one after another expecting the ref to blow.

I'm not comparing lazy and sloppy to ste and incompetent.

It reminded me of Villa away this season. Hopefully we can go some way to replicating the run which followed that display.

Well as it turns out not the worst result tonight I reckon.

Seems we have been given a get out of jail free card.

Let's hope we don't waste it.
