Henderson is Henderson but with him, Downing and Carroll having had such a terrific season for Liverpool anything is possible.
Certainly is! Except anything positive, that isn't possible. biggrin
They could all stay on the bench!? That could be positive. Except perhaps Carroll, I think we should give him a chance. He looked good towards the end of last season. I would play:

Walcott - Ox - Parker - Young

Gerrard

Carroll/Rooney.

Perhaps Rooney could drop back if Carroll is looking good in the first couple of games.

We could be on our way home before Rooney plays

So a Chelski back four, a Liverpool midfield and once Rooney returns a United front row?

Plus Mata, Llorente, Iniesta, Torres, Piqué, Ramos.. they have a ridiculous amount of talent. Germany are also looking like a, to use the British press phase, 'Golden Generation'. They have some real quality in midfield and upfront. Dutch are good as always. I am getting excited about the tournement typing this!!!!!!

C'mon England!!!!!!! Let's do a Greece.

Three central midfielders out....not having much luck. Lampard will be missed because of his experience....of the three though I'd say Wilshere is the biggest miss...he offers something that England haven't had for a very long time in midfield...the ability to retain possession with his passing game. I might be an Arsenal fan but there's no one else like him in England.

Lampard out (not such a bad thing because he's always been invisible for England).

But really, overrated half-fit Parker, rubbish Milner and particularly awful/not sure how he's a professional footballer Henderson vying for central midfield spots (surely he can't play Gerrard in the middle, he wasn't even good at that in his prime). Might as well not bother.

Gerrard never a good centre midfielder?

I've heard it all now!

Well, he does like to run forward without looking back, doesn't he? Much better when having the freedom just behind the striker in my opinion.

Right chaps.

Enough of the doom and gloom.

Hodgson? better than some foreign chancer.

Englands current team? better than most foreign ones. Good enough to beat anyone on its day.

Time to suspend our inter~club biatching and get behind our boys.

COY England, ram it up right up the overseas gimps.

Just fking do it.

In the wise words of Alan Shearer, 'not one of those players would make the England team'.

My starting team without Shrek would be:

Hart
Richards JT Cahill Cole
Parker Scholes
Walcott Gerrard Young
Defoe

After ~70 mins changed to

Hart
Richards JT Cahill Cole
Parker Gerrard
Ox Young Johnson
Defoe

Hart
Chelsea
Walcott - Ox - Parker - Young

Gerrard

Carroll

Job jobbed?

I'd have liked to have seen Sturridge in the squad as an option up front with Carrol late in the game, though.

He was either shunted out to the right by Rafa (due to lack of tactical discipline and a tendency for useless hollywood passes) or he was played as a second striker behind Torres.

Whenever he played in the middle for either Liverpool or especially for England he's been terrible.

I'm not denying he's been one of the world's best players during his career but a central midfielder he isn't, certainly not now he's completely past it.

Yes, 23 goals in 90 appearances (some of those as sub) from midfield. He hasn't contributed at all! rolleyes

Henderson best have his adult nappies on if he gets anywhere near the pitch. If it wasn't for his price tag and appearing on the pitch when we played - I refuse to use the term 'played' as he was pretty much invisible most games, this boy would never get in the national team.

As for playing Gerrard in a midfield 2 - even at his peak Rafa preferred to play him further forward or even on the right. I'd hate to see Henderson line up next to Gerrard. Hope Parker gets fit in time.
