I think we must have all been watching different games!
Milner was one of the best players we had. Worked hard throughout.
Wellbecks first touches were awful when he had his back to the goal and often lost possession as a result.
Oxlade-Chamberlain looked out of his depth and was missing for chunks of the game.
Parker was ok - if a defensive midfielder is the order of the day then I guess we need him.
Gerrard was good. As were all the defence.
Hart was a bit flappy at times.
Looking to the future , it's a bit worrying that we may have to depend on players like Wellbeck, Theo Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain. Does not bode well for a change in the style we can play.

^^^^^ WRONG....
milner worked hard but gave the ball away more than anyone else...
welbeck hasn't got a great first touch but he worked hard to retain possession and kept the ball as well as anyone else during the game.
you did see a different game....
PS we got NOWT off the ref, france shoul dhave ahd at least two yellows for cynical trips...
Ox was the unknown factor that walcott shoul dhave been 6 years ago but not used by sven...at least roy is blooding him in with a view to him being a long term england prospect and starting him on that road early.

Milner is OK, but he's a relative water carrier.... even at club level, he does the graft and let's the flair get one with it - but he can defend (for a forward minded player) Welbeck - difficult job to do - kept France's back 4 moving backwards - decent job in that role Oxlade-Chamberlain - despite my criticism, did well - bar one impetuous leap in.... Parker was fine - except for one aberration - neither he nor Gerrard stepped out and left Nasri with loads of time Gerrard - as above, but plus a good ball in for the goal Defence - Johnson - nope. Terry, too deep and sucked everyone in, Lescott - good, Cole - what else do you expect - complete ring, but an excellent full back Hart - good enough, but no more I note you forgot Young - exactly...

I think you're right, you must have watched the French version Wellbeck was excellent, Oxlade played made some cracking runs and his vision was top drawer for a youngster Milner is the personification of a Donkey, works hard produces FA, how he missed that goal is beyond me?

Have read in at least 3 places now either current managers, ex managers or ex players stating how they thought Johnson was Englands best player!!
Are they wrong or are the same old people wrong who just may not be able to admit it he has improved massively ?

They're just wrong. Sure, he was better defensively than normal but that's because the ball was channelled down that side more because the french know that he's a lot worse a player than cole. And Johnston still made more than a few serious errors, he just made up for it a bit with some goal mouth scramble clearances and that's what the pundits saw. He still can't cross properly or produce a decent final ball under pressure. Micah richards would have been a better choice and I'm not a citeh fan.

Fvck him. Indeed. Say what you like about Johnson but at least he wants to play for his country. Richards should never be considered again - the guy is a prize bellend for his attitude. Best mates with Joey Barton tells you all you need to know about his character.

I thought Johnson had a pretty good game. He kept Ribery and Evra relatively quiet for pretty much the 90 minutes and made some very important tackles. His delivery is woeful and I wish he would hang back sometimes, however, he hardly let the side down with his performance.

Having had 3 different inferior full backs picked ahead of him when along with Walker he is clearly the best available (as well as a decent centre back for cover) He is then asked if he would like to go on stand by list instead of going on Holiday. Think id have said the same.

Can't go on holiday and still be on standby?
World is a small place these days, you know.
He wouldn't have to sit by the phone at home in a tracksuit with a bag packed, for the duration of the tournament.

Richards showed great talent - then believed his own hype - his form went down the pan, he started getting into fights for being a knob when out (and was arrested for it), he took a step back and seemingly sorted himself out - except his ego is back..... Roy has shown he doesn't want that - so Richards, ability or not, gets left behind....
I suspect you may be a bit biased...

I suspect you may be a bit biased... I agree I may be biased as I see him frequently but even my rag supporting friends can't believe he was overlooked.

Thought it was a better performance last night. Obviousley we conceded 2 sloppy goals, and there are probably 4 or 5 players who could play a lot better than last night, but I think some of those young lads stepped up last night. Carroll and Welbeck, whilst they weren't outstanding, both took their chances very well. We knocked the ball around pretty well at times and there was some good defending to snuff out Ibra.
I haven't seen any headlines or media reaction this morning, I hope we can outscore France in the final game and finish top of the group, Rooney must be gagging to get out there, he owes England and the fans a big performance...
Looking forward to Tuesday night.
