The Sterling/Valencia argument is simple:
If you support Liverpool then it was Valencia's fault and Sterling won the ball.
If you support ManU then Sterling was reckless and Valencia had every right to be incensed.
Football tribalism at it's very best/worst, aptly demonstrated by the two teams with the most myopic supporters.

Well I'm a Chelsea fan and thought sterling was unlucky. Maybe a yellow never a red. Valencia straight red all day long. If you support Liverpool then it was Valencia's fault and Sterling won the ball.
If you support ManU then Sterling was reckless and Valencia had every right to be incensed.

Good things out of tonights game were Ox and Barkley.
Lampard, Wilshire and Milner. Not good.
Others as expected in relation to 1st 11.
Have to agree. Lampard was useless tonight. He's a season too far, even at the domestic level.Lampard, Wilshire and Milner. Not good.
Others as expected in relation to 1st 11.

Or perhaps by football fans who actually play football 4 times a week like myself? If you support Liverpool then it was Valencia's fault and Sterling won the ball.
If you support ManU then Sterling was reckless and Valencia had every right to be incensed.

As it happens I'm an LFC fan but you can't tell me that wasn't an honest attempt at challenge? As I said before yellow at the worst IMHO regardless of the two players involved.

Not really. I never said Valencia was right to do what he did. He's a professional and should keep any anger to himself. If you support Liverpool then it was Valencia's fault and Sterling won the ball.
If you support ManU then Sterling was reckless and Valencia had every right to be incensed.

Yellow for Sterling, Red for Valencia in my book.

More negatives than positives tonight, I'm afraid.
Negatives...
Milner was awful. I was hoping he'd be a viable alternative to the car crash that is Glen Johnson but Johnson's now a shoe-in for the Italy game unless Roy goes for the untried Flanagan.
Wilshere's frailty exposed again. His poor decision making in lunging into tackles continues and as Scholes said recently, he doesn't seem to be maturing (or learning) into the player he should be. Lost his rag in the scuffle following the Sterling / Valencia scuffle and is a card waiting to happen in most games.
Rooney - I really wouldn't pick him for the Italy game. Yes, he scored but that in itself isn't worth celebrating at all, it was a tap in from half a yard. Anyone who still considers him world class is way off, IMO.
Sterling - poor challenge to make with ten minutes to go, no need to do it. Roy might have been considering starting him v Italy but tonight's petulance has cost him any hope of that, I reckon.
Foster - good job we've got Hart.
Jones - poor.
Smalling - stealing a living as a Premier League footballer, let alone an England one.
Positives...
Barkley and the Ox looked really good going forward; powerful, penetrating, decisive running, just what we need.
Lambert - has come so far in five years and he really is living the dream. Took his goal brilliantly and grabbed an assist too. Impressed with him and he'll be a great signing for Liverpool next season.
That'll do for now.

Yellow for Sterling, Red for Valencia in my book.
Incidentally, did anyone see Smalling overrun the ball in the centre circle then make that wild lunging tackle? I thought he was massively lucky not to pick at least a yellow up for that one!
