Consistency is what's separating Ipswich and Leicester. 1-0 away at a mid table side doesn't sound earth shattering but it's another 3 points. Leeds losing to Stoke is the sort of result that will send their manager nuts.

Take the 3 and run! laugh I was in the Bristol end last night and seeing the table positions thought it was going to be a walkover. To my surprise City held their own and were unlucky not to have at least drawn.

Your defence is solid, the left wing looked dangerous and the right scrappy at best - but that’s where the opportunities were coming from. Your number 19 could collect a ball beautifully, but was swinging them in with no sight of a player and no one turned up to finish.

4 yellow cards too, no effort of a clean tackle but a ‘stop them at all costs’ mentality - risky. You’ve got the makings of a very solid team but they’re not connected. A cracking game overall though, and awesome away end considering the distance travelled - well played!

I thought Woolfenden looked off the pace, Jackson (our 19) was tactically sound but his end product was waaay off from his usual decent crossing/cut backs.

Williams (RB) was crunching as you say, but he had to, he was too narrow and kept getting caught out by some decent work by Bell and Conway.

Weird that we started so poorly, generally had 60/65 mins where we looked reasonable, then Bristol back on top and the end, gave the impression you deserved a point, you guys really did defend with numbers in the box blocking a number of shots and then we went to pot again after the subs, credit to Bristol on that one for how they pressed, that's part of it, but i'd also say that's the worst i've seen us play this season, we just looked off the pace, Morsy's shot was a whisker away too.

That being said, Conway's header (I think) was a criminal miss....hmmmm, difficult.

Burgess was superb, Davis not quite his usual, but still forced a superb save from O'Leary as did Hirst!

Stats
BCFC 49% ITFC 51% possession [we had 58% in first half, so you really did turn it around and make it difficult]
Xg 0.76 - 1.66
Shots 11 - 19
Accurate passes 367 (81%) - 396 (80%)
Fouls 11 - 15
Blocked 4 - 7
Tackles won 53% - 82%

Bristol will be fine when they get returns from injury/or give the team from last night time to get going, but again, we were really not at it, missed Burns for balance on that side and dare I say, Clarke may have suited better at RB for that game.

Luongo looked tired from his international duty with Australia too, but still so classy with the ball.

I liked Bristol btw.

I get more and more worried with each passing week.
We've now reached the point where struggling premiership teams start to jettison their managers...and McKenna sticks out like a sore thumb as a young manager doing an unbelievable job.

My only consolation is that he wasn't tempted by the Celtic job.

The team continues on this unbelievable run, have the flights booked for the Norwich game.
Really looking forward to that.

I think (hope) he's too canny to jump into a struggling premier league team, very risky. I'd say he will have a career plan that involves maximising every opportunity at Ipswich over a 3 or 4 year period and then heading for a proper premier job rather than a dodgy one.

Last two games appear to have been less than convincing so plenty to do here for now.

No chance Mckenna leaves mid season, maybe he'll go if you fail to get up, but don't worry about that yet.

I hope it's both of us that go up, we have Leeds Friday night so hopefully we can get at least a point there.

Happy for you to stuff Leeds and give us a bit more breathing room if you could please? lol!

We're going to falter at some point, had a couple of really tough games of late, not played brilliantly, but got the wins (which in itself is good, but like performances first and foremost), so that gap will undoubtedly reduce, but we've given ourselves an incredible platform.

I'm confident of playoffs now, automatics still feel out of reach....regardless of current situation. I'd have taken mid-table in a heart beat before the season started!

Blimey.

Really haven't been at it of late, but when it clicks, we're really impressive.

Have to pinch myself seeing us level with Leicester and above Leeds and Southampton.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think we'll finish top two, but we're certainly in with a shout of playoffs now which pre season any town fan would have taken immediately.

January will be huge for us. I can see Davis being looked at for some serious £££ he's got three lungs on top of obvious quality.

International break needed, some of our squad look tired and need a reset.

It's funny, despite a bit of a wobble were in a phenomenal position. I agree I think we will run out of steam and a playoff place is more realistic but way above expectations.

I think we will finish top two, it’s a big next 6 weeks but I’m reasonably confident we will emerge the other side of it in no worse position than we are at the moment.

Nice bounce back from Saturday.

Particularly enjoyable to score early for once rather than concede in the first few minutes for once!

A season defining few weeks coming up, some tough away games and Norwich at home (despite their poor season will be desperate to beat us).

If we're still top 2 at the end of December we'll have done well.

Agree 100%. If we are still 8 points clear in 8 games time I see us getting automatic promotion, but the next 8 games define the season.
Tough aways at Boro and Watford, then Norwich and then Leeds and Leicester (twice)
All to play for.
Flying over next Saturday for the Norwich game.

Next 4 games for us are huge, on paper they're all easier than a lot of the other fixtures (I know there's no easy fixtures in this league), if we can take 10 points from those 12, I think we'll be quite far ahead of 3rd.

The game on Boxing day is huge, I think you'll beat us, but if we win the next 4 games, then I'd take that loss.

I think it's good we're pushing each other, in any other season we'd (Leicester or Ipswich) be miles ahead of 2nd and the rest of the pack.

We'll also lose 4 or 5 players to AFCON in January as well, which might have a big effect on our run.

Indeed. Ipswich seem to be good at coming back from behind.

Long may the run for them continue. I've got tickets for some home games coming up too so makes it even more interesting.

Mad isn't it?

We didn't even play that well last night, but numbers showed we edged possession (at a team who are very good at home) better xG, more accurate passing. They edged the shots, but we also hit the post and probably incorrectly had a dissallowed goal too.

Lots of comments about us not deserving a win last night and being lucky, but I don't see it.

Just enjoying every single moment.

Looking forward to Norwich.....can't worry about the result, we're in dreamland regardless!

For 45 minutes last night it looked like the perfect mid-week, but fair play to Leicester they brought it home.
If we can admire those qualities in our own team we must at least acknowledge them in our closest rivals.
Looks like this will be going all the way to the wire.
HUGE four weeks coming up.

Yup, both teams finding a way to win. If we can beat Norwich and share points with Leicester and Leeds I'd say that would be fine.
