Amazing. Here we are in 6th place with an excellent chance of European football next season but we all focus on the total points required to stay up. That's what supporting WH does for you.
What is it that chicken farmers say? Don't count your chickens before your eggs have hatched! Saying that, it would be painful to finsh below 6th after the way we have played quite often this season, and especially now we have Payet back.
If we look at our remaining fixtures, I do agree with badcompany that we probably won't go down. We've got a tricky March and a tricky mid-April, but other than that it's looking like we could grab 24 more points if we win all our "winnable" games.
FYI, I class those winnable games as Southampton, Norwich, Sunderland, Watford, Palace, West Brom, Swansea and Stoke.
Everton and Man Utd I always get a bad feeling against. Leicester look very hard to beat and Arsenal would love to come and get 3 points.

I'm not quite as confident as that but I do see circa 19 points out of that lot which would see us finish on 58 which is generally a 6-7th place league finish. FYI, I class those winnable games as Southampton, Norwich, Sunderland, Watford, Palace, West Brom, Swansea and Stoke.

Which his how many? Being old school I still think of the First Division as the top flight and having watched The Boys of 86 almost win the league I think of anything less than 2nd as not being a record. Looking back to late '90's (ignoring several seasons in the abyss) we've finished in the mid-'50's a few times.
Not seen it on this thread although could be in earlier pages but what's everyone's first 11 plus 3 subs when all fit at this stage of the season. Tactic's and opposition not worried about, just best team. pick your own formation - Bloody hard as quite a few places could easily be swapped around. Big fan of AC when fit and Og looks decent enough. Obiang has done well when I have seen him too. Decent squad.

Interesting question.
I'd say there isn't an obvious first XI which is probly why we are doing so well this season. The squad has quality and depth in most if not all positions.
Byram will probly replace Tomkins at RB once fit and settled in now Jenks has gone. Noble has been a revelation this season, on paper he's struggling to get in the midfield but, currently, is a shoe in, as of course is Payet. Arguably the other 2 in midfield is any of Kouyate, Moses, Song, Lanzini, all quality players.
Up front is another case of 2 from the 4 or 5 available. Sakho and on current form Valencia. I rate AC highly and would love to see him stay fit for a season. Antonio is proving to be a very good signing and who knows what we'll get from Emenike.
What is beyond doubt is that the current squad is the best we've had by a long way for years and years and years. Players seem to want to sign for the club as shown by Byram choosing us over Everton. Long may it continue.
Great time to be a Hammer, and as sjc says, anything we do now this season is a bonus.

The beauty of this season is that it can interchange players from the squad (and up to a point their positions also)with very little difference to the strength of the team..... And that is without doubt pushing some players to the next level.
The other great thing is that just by doing their job (with a little help from the system)some in the team allow others to play, while those being allowed to play make the others look better still.
