Been talking with my wife (Liverpool supporter) a lot about the BFS debate. She’s of the opinion that he’s got us promoted and appears to be keeping us in the premier. On the other hand I point out that the fan’s unrest is because we aren’t scoring goals and there’s no plan B. It often said we were doing better without Andy Carroll and I’m sure this was because it forced BFS’s hand into using other players. Personally I’d like to see Vaz Te, Carlton Cole used as a big bloke, little bloke combination. I’d also like to see Ravel Morrison back and Joe Cole used more as skill players through the middle of the park. I could easily see a team with all four of those playing and dropping Nolan, Carroll, Downing and Diame. It’s an interesting debate – it’ll never happen of course under Fat Sam but what are your thoughts?
One big one small upfront is what we need at the moment, keep AC but with a sort of Cottee esqe player with him. Jarvis was not strong / confident at he start but stepped his game up as the game went on.Thought a score draw could be on the cards for us today but watching that was painful.
Rod.

Just seen on twitter that we're mathmatically safe - can't be arsed to work it out myself though and embarassing that it took another team doing it for us.
Not mathematically because both Fulham and Sunderland could both still reach 37 points but they would need to turn round a -30 goal difference deficit to ours. I can't see us getting any more points so that'll be 6 defeats to end the season, and 9 defeats since the beginning of March - not the sort of football to cause fans to get their credit cards out to buy season tickets for next year.Yet basically we are safe so it's Premiership football for next year and the last ever season at The Boleyn Ground. The chairmen must realise that their plan of moving to the Olympic Stadium also requires us to grow our attendances and Allardyce is simply not the man to achieve that. Time to get in a new manager now as a sign of intent. Soon enough to allow the new man to get active in the transfer market and soon enough to encourage supporters to commit to next season. (won't happen though)...

Cardiff can get 39 points and Sunderland could get 41 points......although not both could happen. Although Cardiff can get 39 points and Sunderland could get 38 points (as they are playing each other)Norwich, Villa & West Brom can all finish with more points. It's only Flum who will struggle as they can only match you due to their inferior goal difference.
But apart from that, yes, you are "mathematically" safe
14 West Ham 36 10 7 19 38 49 -11 37
15 West Brom 35 7 15 13 42 54 -12 36
16 Aston Villa 35 9 8 18 36 53 -17 35
17 Norwich 35 8 8 19 28 56 -28 32
18 Fulham 36 9 4 23 37 79 -42 31
19 Cardiff 35 7 9 19 31 65 -34 30
20 Sunderland 34 7 8 19 33 57 -24 29

Looks like Sam's upset with the fans - http://www.teamtalk.com/west-ham-united/9286252/Pr...
at least he has acknowledged that we need to be much stronger next season. I wonder if he also acknowledges that the fans want to see football not 'hoofball'.
