My colleague's an ST at the O's & rates slade; let's see how he gets on w/ ravel.
As a manager, he's not bad but he definitely has a dark side to him.

I worked with him at Yeovil and one day did a talking heads piece for the local paper. Made a couple of mild observations in my interview (about how he had a couple of square pegs in round holes in the team) and thought no more of it. When the paper came out, he went mad and rung me on the mobile swearing and cursing down the phone. Barely got a word in edgeways, I did. hehe

Our relationship was never the same again and I breathed a small sigh of relief when he left. To his credit, he cooperated with me for my book and gave some good quotes and we are talking again.

Re tapping up. He joined us eight days after taking Grimsby to the League 2 playoff final and losing to Cheltenham. That's quite quick but bear in mind he also had an interview with Bristol Rovers in between too and that's extremely quick. Can't make a judgement on this either way but on the QT, I'd be surprised if someone from Cardiff didn't have a word with him. Orient's owner wrote in his programme notes at their last home game that Slade leaked a private convo with him (the one where he said Slade had to win the next game to keep his job) in order to get fired so he could get maximum compo and take the Cardiff job. It's feasible but exceedingly risky.

Not seen the game yet but the Dave's "little chat" during the summer with BFS seems to have had the right effect. So far every game bar the Soton one has been filled with passing on the floor and attacking football. Pity we couldn't nick a point but you will never get the rub of the green at Old Trafford.

The stats speak for themselves, over 50% more shots than ManU away from home, more on target, more corners, Oh and more fouls - we must be a dirty bunch of cloggers wink

Didn't see anything of the game over the weekend - pity about the result though; draw would've been decent.

West Ham Lite up next - should be interesting.

Why would you shout abuse at Harry?

Not the best game but a win's a win & satisfying to beat a redknapp team.

Good team effort though with Song and Jenkinson really standing out.

Pity we didn't score more as had all of the first half, struggled a bit in the second until the goal, comfortable after that.

Was half joking but his teams always tend to beat us and for the relegation season when he was in charge and forcing the club into having to sell Rio/Carrick/Cole/Defoe/Lampost etc.

Anyway as for QPR, was a strange game. Was right behind the goal in Trev Brooking Lower. First half was very tame, stadium very quiet with the away fans chanting "This place is a library".

We played some decent stuff, Song and Zarate in midfield look a decent combination with Downing spraying some lovely balls crossfield and into the channels for Sakho and Valencia to run onto. I thought we pretty much dominated the game apart from 10 minutes either side of half time when we went to sleep and let them have too much possession and space.
The second goal settled it and I thought the hook back from Tomkins was quality, would have been very easy to hoof it into row Z. One things for sure ~ QPR are in for a tough old season, they were very mediocre.

Nice touch from Rob Green, who responded well to some light hearted "Greedy ba****rd" chanting. At the end he threw his gloves in to the WH fans and crossed his arms. Zamora got a good reception as well.

The QPR fans were louder than us?! I was too hungover to go yesterday so I just watched it on the TV - I genuinely cannot believe how bad QPR were, they are stuffed this season, their owner must be tearing his hair out.

Song, Valencia, Sakho, Cresswell and Zarate are all great signings, we have got the best squad we've had in years. Downing's new position has basically turned him in to what seems like a new signing as well. Good time to be a Hammer.

Wasn't sure what sort of reception Green would get but it was very good - cheered etc; zamora song was being sung loudly as he was warming up. I couldn't hear the qpr fans where I sit - they seemed really quiet, although the stadium was generally quiet, kids a quid to blame.

Did harry leave his seat during the game at all & and will he get a bking for using the phone?
