first up i am not a whu fan, but my wife and step kids are. we have been to games there, including when we played you in the FA cup a few years back (Forest).
i watched the match at home with the wife, daughter and her fiance as I couldn't get tickets, my son is in melbourne with and watched it as well.
oddly i was also there earlier in the day as my companies head office is about 20yds from where the coach was stopped and damaged. it was sad it happened and i don't condone it in anyway, but man utd fans are no angels, and they should have realised how many would be there and the problems coaches have getting to UP any other time.
I left work at 4 (we were all sent home early) and the place was rammed then, people had started to arrive from lunchtime on, generally it felt like a party atmosphere. lots of dads / families taking kids to what I expect was their first match and the only one at UP.
at 4 plod were barely there, as for the tactic with the vans, well my work colleagues who did go (20+) had some choice words the next day about that, they weren't complementary.
sad to see the stadium go, but it would have been a nightmare to redevelop the way you would need to stay up as one of the power teams as you should be.
the sons girlfriend (an aussie) posted on facebook a video of them watching it on the telly, and that the chanting made the hair on her neck stand up. we did try and tell her that whilst it was big the MCG was like a library.
when they come for a holiday, we'll go to the OS, but I'll try and get them to the CG as well, we have a great atmosphere there as well.
off home in an hour, back to UP tube like normal, won't seem the same walking into work and not seeing the hugely impressive facade to the stadium. even as a none WHU fan, I loved the atmosphere tuesday, even at home later, and will miss the old girl.

Thanks for the post, nice coming from a Forest supporter. i watched the match at home with the wife, daughter and her fiance as I couldn't get tickets, my son is in melbourne with and watched it as well.

p.s. When is your team going to be challenging again?

Nice of you to come on a WHU thread and not only give a balanced view, but also show up pretty much every other non WHU contributor in the last couple of days in one single post. The irony of alleged fans of other clubs coming on here and calling our fans wkers, muppets high percentage of aholes etc etc I'm sure wasn't lost on the more intelligent. But then again, you support a proper club, so I'm not surprised at what you said....because you'd understand it more.
Hope you get back where you belong soon, but lets not hope we play you in the cup and our centre half gets sent off after 20 minutes!

The last game at Upton Park will be remembered for drunken violence.
A few supporters have brought shame on their club and the game.
As Souness commented, those pictures of a mob surrounding and attacking the United coach were broadcast around the world.
A shame it had to end this way. When the euphoria of the win subsides, the post mortem into this disgrace will begin.

Shall we have a post mortem .......
Nicely balanced article about Tuesday here.Again completely backs up what we said.

And the Police are looking for FOUR whole people out of that 50,000 plus.I really don't know who look more stupid, the media who are still pissed from not finding anything underhand with the OS deal so licked their lips at this, or those that popped on to this thread and disappeared never to be seen again looking a bit stupid.
Keep looking at the table wishing Swansea never happened ....

The police have arrested 2 people then published photographs of another 4 they want to interview. One of those gave himself up at a police station yesterday, the other 3 are still wanted. The photographs are pretty good tho so the arrests shouldn't take too long. Anyway that's 6 in total out of 50K+.https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/may/11/w...

The Swansea performance was abysmal.
Not sure we'll miss him too much. Yes he's supplied some crosses for assists but a lot of his game has been misfiring for quite some time, and sometime the team play through him too much, when there's easier and more obvious options.
There's plenty in the squad to get a result in a difficult game, providing they're not drained from Tuesday.
Just watched the closing ceremony again, and took in Nobes speech a bit more.Nice to here him mention the staff, and to say it's run like a proper football club with these owners and not a circus .
