musingly in 'Arry's book he says that even with Hurst, Moore and Peters we still only finished mid-table, "showed how crap the rest of us were," he said! Best was the Cottee/McAvennie years and I look back fondly on the period when we had Hartson, Kitson and Lomas. That was under Harry's tenure. Indeed most entertaining period recently was as Harry as manager (DiCanio, Joe Cole, Trevor Sinclair etc.) I think we had 4 players go to the World Cup one year, yet he seems universally disliked by some element of the crowd.
Not me. For me Arry is a proper hammer.
I was young when he got the job but I seem to remember an interview where he said he felt he had stabbed Billy Bonds in the back to get the managers job. There's no doubt in my mind that Redknapp is a proper Hammer but his morals are questionable at best and non-existent at worst - he's only out for one person and that's himself.

Agree H is a great manager and a proper Hammer BUT - you wouldn't trust him to manage your pension fund would you.

Looks like we are trying to buy this guy - http://www.teamtalk.com/west-ham-united/9386861/Tr...

Where is all the money coming from?
Received over £73M for the PL finish last season so presumably they've allocated a chunk to paying off debt/stadium & thought sod it; let's buy some players with the rest.

Anyone know about Oscar Borg who's popping up all over the place today? Is he that good or is it just a good old touting by the agent?

I've only heard about him in the last few days. For some reason Southampton were mentioned in connection with him. I can't understand why we would want to sell him to Southampton. Now I hear he's having a trial at ManU. It seems he want's away from the academy either way which is sad.

Likewise; hadn't heard of him till today - shows how much of the programme I read each week read

Watched the clip on the DM website, couldn't see anything that impressive but as I don't watch football at that level hard to say what's decent & not. One of the other regulars (SJC I think) has the connections at WH youth level so will be better placed to comment.

Agree though that it's a shame to see any talent go elsewhere.

Ankle's a little bit sore.

Looking on the bright side I remember we played better without him.

Good goal from Zarate though - saw that via a tweeted link from BT Sport.

Didn't see anything more of the game.

What a surprise. Was hoping for a good pre-season from him this year. If he's as unfit as suggested & has another POS season like last think patience will go.

Hopefully Valencia will prove a good purchase as thought of going into another season w/ carlton up front's depressing me already (and I quite like CC).

BBC reporting 4 months, too. FFS, I know it isn't *his* fault but I'm getting sick and tired of all of these injuries. Any striker joining us since Ashton is doomed.

Hopeless. Another waste of time sick note. Tired of holding out hope for him now.

Hopefully valencia and zarate will offer something as we know that carlton's fking useless.

Was slightly more optimistic than usual this season. That'll teach me.
