A much better performance in thsecond half but the lack of urgency concerns me - still, the possession stats look a lot better than normal laugh

Enjoyed that, could have gone either way in second half - gutting to hit the bar at the end though.

Valencia looks like a player, sakho decent as well. Downing had an excellent game. Defense iffy.

Diame was bound to score. Bet he does fk all for rest of the year now.

Settle for that. Some decent football played as well. On that performance, injuries and Substantial Samuel notwithstanding, we should never see Nolan or Carlton ever again. Here's hoping.

All joking aside does anyone feel like me that we may just possibly have a more exciting team developing this season? Not just Velencia, whose goal was a gem and who also showed some touches fo flair but also the other new guys, Sakho, Song and even the Welsh/Italian chap Morgan Alfie-tonio (or what'sis'name) looked good.

So where do Carroll and Nolan fit in?

The squad now gives options for different scenarios within which AC & Nolan still have places IMO; Nolan probably not as a starter, AC will still be very much a first choice though when/if he's fit as I suspect that he'll still be given time.

Doubt that AC will be match-fit wink much before Xmas though so the team as played last night (w/ song starting) will presumably be the preference when we're playing teams in similar positions as us. Don't fancy our chances rocking up at man u or chelski with last nights formation though & defence, which was excellent last year, needs to wake up a bit as well.

Reid was not being much of a leader last night, more like a petulant child.

I think that Hernandez just got completely under his skin, from what I could see he jumped straight through Reid at least 3 times and the ref only gave a foul twice. After he didn't get a third foul, the mist seemed to descend. He did take a good yellow card when they were through in the 2nd half though.

After the contract talk in the summer was a bit worried that he wouldn't be right - he didn't look that great against S'hmpton & pissed off that he was in the starting 11 against sheff u. Hopefully it's a blip though as him + 1 of Tompk or ginge is my preference.

Agree on the yellow - important one. Thought ref had a good game overall though & let things flow.

Ried & Tomkins are my preferred pair these days since Ginge' seems to be geeting a bit slow to react. However with Reid wanting away and Tomkins wrapped up in this GBH matter it's all a bit concerning.
