An announcement is due in the next hour apparently. Presume it will be Bilic.

Personally I think Bagpuss, Rio with PDC as attacking coach would be an unbeatable combination. Certainly entertaining!

Likewise; as I said earlier I'm unconvinced. However as he's the Manager good luck to him & welcome.

Quite a bit needs sorting before the season starts, hopefully he's been given a decent budget. Shame that we pissed away £4m by playing like tossers for the second half of the season.

Yep - and apparently, he's not due in London till later in the month rolleyes

Hopefully, realistic targets will have been identified and spoken to already (by Bilic?) and deals ready to be tied up before our season starts in 3 weeks yikes

Whether or not you agree with the decision, lets all get behind him and the team. He will surely identify some players playing in Europe/Turkey which could be targets for us to add.

Overall win rate of 55%'s not bad (64% when in charge of Croatia which is pretty good). Sacked at Loco Moscow but looked like he did ok in Turkey.

Can't comment on what his teams looked like as can't remember watching any of them.

Lack of PL experience & potentially ability to attract new players is a concern for me.

I expect that he'll jump about on the touchline more than BS ever did though & he can look like a mental bd which might help when we're busily chucking another game away in the 93 minute banghead

4-2-3-1 Seems to be his most used.

For an old fart like me what exactly does that mean? 4 at the back, 5 across midfield and one up front? Or is that 2 defensive midfielders and 3 attacking midfielders and "one in the hole"... Or is that a big bloke up front like Andy Carroll? Ok... I'll admit I'm confused. laugh

I was going to get wound up about the lack of activity but then I remembered I was lying on a beach, drinking a beer and having a great time! I'll worry about all of this next week.

To put this into perspective, if you look at the win rates of our managers over the years, taking the modern era (thus discounting Charlie Paynter) and also discounting Sir Trevor who only managed a handful of games our most successful managers have been Billy Bonds and Alan Pardew with win rates of 43.61% & 41.10% respectively. Aside from his year at Locomotive Moscow Slaven Bilic has consistently achieved over 50% everywhere he's managed which is very impressive.

Oh I didn't realise he'd actually been signed. Not sure what to make of it to be honest but, as always, will back the manager whilst he settles in.

That list serves to remind me of some of the donkeys we appointed in the past.

Rodent, Grant & Zola spring to mind.
