So in today's London Evening Standard Simon Jenkins talking about the Olympic Stadium states that 'cannot believe West Ham will occupy for long'.

Seriously wtf is he on about?

I guess because every football club that has ever been a tenant in an Olympic Stadium, has eventually moved into a purpose built football stadium.

Probably a bit longer than 4 years in this case. Maybe 10 or until the club is sold.

Stadium, and our use of, notwithstanding; personally I don't disagree with the broad sentiments - poorly planned, poorly designed etc post Olympics, money poured in etc & what we've been left with.

But most of that, particularly in relation to the Stadium, was know from the outset.

However none of that's WH's fault & his critique could be applied to many large urban 'redevelopment' schemes of the last 10/20/30 etc years.

As to not being there long he doesn't expand on that so seems a pointless remark.

Yes he does, let's hope he comes.

Why do we keep signing players I had never heard of? confused

What time are people aiming to get there? It's a full house 55,000 and I have no idea how Stratford tube copes with those numbers? Never been there before... scratchchin

I'll be there from 17:30 ish, need to find somewhere for a beer though as the Stadium's dry this evening due to poxy UEFA rules.

Stratford's a large station and a major rail interchange, but I assume it'll still be chaos.

Think my train gets in at 6:10 so should be ok...

p.s. Apparently it was the club who declined BTSport showing it on TV for fear of it affecting ticket sales. laugh It's the first game at the new stadium (what's it called?) it was bound to sell out. rolleyes

I thought it was odd that it wasn't on; assumed it was due to us being terrible last week!

Coincidentally I'm on a train rolling past the stadium at the moment - looks good from here.

I pull in to West Ham station at about 18:00 - just got to run the gauntlet of the DLR across to Stratford.

So I'll probably get there for the second half laugh

I'll be with my son but still going to try to find somewhere for Nachos and a beer wink

DLR to Stratford High St for me, and then meet mates for a few pints at The Langthorne just up from the Magistrates Court.
