Commiserations from a Fulham fan. Our two clubs have shared a similar trajectory since the mid 90s, as Wigan fans will know. Congratulations on the FA Cup though, I am green with envy as our club still hasn't managed a major trophy despite being the oldest of London's professional clubs (and not having its own thread on Pistonheads wink). I'd take an FA Cup win and a relegation at the moment.

I fully expect an immediate promotion to follow. Good luck.

Would be gutted if Martinez goes to Stoke.

That would be a step backwards from Wigan Shirley.

Well, he's gone. I kinda hoped that he would have taken some responsibility for our worst ever points tally this season, and that he would have wanted to make up for it by bringing us back up. I think this is going to have a massive effect on players' decisions to stay or go.

Despite that, he won us the FA Cup. Good luck to him wherever he goes (as long as it isn't Stoke), and let's hope he doesn't raid us for any players that do decide to stay.

He did bring quite a few with him from Swansea. On balance I think Martinez brought a lot more to Latics than he took away so I thank him for his efforts and wish him all the best. As long as the Scottish scouting connection carries on intact we should be all right.
Please please don't let us end up with T Pulis.

Wouldn't be disappointed with Pulis, there are worse managers in the rumour mill. Whelan says he doesn't have anyone in mind, but wants to appoint a new manager in 7-10 days. No doubt he'll take the cheap and easy route and just appoint Graeme Jones.

Interestingly the bookies favourite is Rene Meulensteen, Fergie's first-team coach who left when Moyes joined as he didn't fancy being demoted back down to the Man U youth team.
Other names in the frame besides him and Graeme Jones: Paul Jewell, Mike Phelan, Stuart Pearce and Phil Bloody Neville.

Owen Coyle now favourite with some. Rather hope this doesn't happen.

I've a lot of mates in Wigan and was surprised to hear them not wanting Paul Jewell back........I always thought he did a good job there. Is that just them being daft or was/is Jewell not liked there?

Whatever......hope you bounce back up next season.

Jewell wasn't particularly disliked, other than for being a Scouser of course. Harmless enough but not sure he's the man to raise them out of the Championship, or indeed to run a European campaign.
I would have thought that the ticket into European football would make it a plum job for some ambitious type looking to make a mark.

Jewell didn't exactly set the world alight at Ipswich whilst there. I'd think that Dave Whelan will look elsewhere.

That'll be the end of swashbuckling football at the DW then. Not an appointment I would expect to spring us back into the Prem, let alone to run a credible European campaign.

You guys have given yourselves a good chance of bouncing back with Holt in your team. I'm gutted to see him leave NCFC, he's been awesome for us. This whole deal seems a little strange to me, because we didn't need to sell him, and it didn't seem as if he wanted to leave, and why drop down to the championship when he could still be playing against some of the best teams and players in the world? I know his family relocated to Carlisle, but its Carlisle, not the moon. There's something that doesn't sit right about this whole deal with me, but, life goes on...

Looks like Coyle is doing a good rebuilding job up there.
