If this deal comes off (it looks like it is at the moment) it does seem a great piece of business. I bear Altidore no malice whatsoever, if ever there was a player I actually wanted to do well at our club it was him. I think I might have some kind of unrequited love for Jozy!

This. We won't ever know the true details of the deal but I hope SAFC have done their sums on the fee/wages.

BTW you are being generous with a Mars bar and crisps. wink
My tea was still in the oven and I was hungry hehe

Disgraceful performance today from everyone.
Gus in the dugout, folded arms throughout. Clueless.

Well done Bradford. Nice passing side. I hope you get a really good tie in the next round.

I think he knows his time is up. He's lost the majority of fans by blaming them for the midweek shambles against qpr, the players look like they haven't got a clue what they are supposed to be doing and now he blames the press.

Everyone's fault bar his and him laughing yesterday when we were 2-0 down was the final straw for me.

Couple of observations from yesterday.

Mannone. Previously thought he was a pretty good keeper. Kept out a great shot yesterday but he has no command of his area. Whenever there was a freekick or any organisation he has to be asked by the players what he wants.

Bridcutt. Can someone tell me what his role is in the team? Headless chicken. Can't pass or tackle.

I'm all for innocent until proven guilty although with the media in this country its guilty until proven innocent, but I can't understand how stupid footballers can be by putting themselves in that situation in the first place.

He's been in police custody since 9 this morning and the club have suspended him which doesn't look good for him.

Just one thing after another.
Not right naming him.

Arguably not fair to the other players if they don't name him though, if an 'a player has been arrested' statement is made.

There should be no press on it whatsoever.

I don't have a clue if the allegation is true, but 2 things spring to mind:
1) He's a Professional footballer and knows that he is in the spotlight. The clubs have been doing a much better job of keeping the players out of trouble, but sometimes they need a little more help (Think Rooney and the Granny allegation, Giggs showing brotherly love, Merson/Adams drinking etc etc) Surely the clubs are going to have to start protecting the players (or should I say their investments)
2) Naming the player means that his life is now on hold as he cannot play until this allegation is removed (or proven) Can he get a fair jury trial as he's about to become the 3rd best known footballer in the UK behind Becks and Ched Evans.

I hope that Sunderland can get on with the football and leave the law to decide right and wrong

Good luck, your club is about to be dragged through the mud and despite everything else you don't deserve that.

Whatever happens some lives have been, and are, going to be ruined.

That's the first time I've ever left a game early.

I was home by the time the second half kicked off.

Shame, one of my favourite figures in the game tbh. I'll never forget the amount of assists he got me in FF playing for Chelsea. Amazing. Thanks, Gus.
