I've just about given up on Sunderland. Even when we went down on record low points I didn't think we were this bad. No fight, no care, no passion.
Since our return to the premier league we've survived, skins of our teeth. Manager after manager and we've not progressed. We have a youth academy that seemingly supplies loanees to championship clubs and sells to leagues 1 and 2. Colback and Hendo the only youth products of note in the past 10 years (not seen enough of Watmore yet but hope he gets his game)
We've sat still whilst every team has improved and we wonder why we're going to struggle again. We've loaned good players that work to cover the cracks in a team of no hopers to come back next season with the same problems.
Last season I thought relegation might actually do us a favour, a chance to revamp from scratch and I feel the same now.
I'm used to losing as a Sunderland but to not play, at all, against teams you expect to struggle also and to concede 7 goals. f

I was thinking the same last year looking at your side. Last few years starved off relegation with a few games to spare, but rather than rebuild the squad the chairman continues to buy players that are just not good enough. Last year Brown and O'Shea looked suspect, and they decided to replace those with Kabul and Coates who are even worse. Sometimes is better to get relegated, clear the decks of the dross and start again. I was chatting to a friend who supports QPR and he was glad they got relegated. They have got rid of the overpriced, average footballers on big wages and this year kept a few experienced heads that want to play for the club and got in alot of young hungry championship players and apparently they are playing great football and proud to wear the shirt.
Never mind you lot, my team's old boss, Nigel Pearson, will be coming your way in a matter of weeks, I'm sure.

"It is also testament to his character that he has foregone any kind of a financial settlement, something which is very unusual in football."
Once a Ger always a Ger so he deserves defending. He kept your pish outfit up when you had no right and left without taking what he was due. Too classy for Sunderland.

Good man, Dicky.A, always liked him, all the best for his retirement, the chap had good managerial pedigree and history - can't fault him at all.
Will Fat Sam fix the team? Can't say this far out, sure he has premier league pedigree but he's never taken a team "anywhere" - he gets results though, sort of.
Time will tell, West Brom then the derby - hopefully they can get a few in the onion bag for that one, it'll keep moral and hope up, if they do.

He took Bolton from mid table Championship crap into Europe and a solid Premier League team. I think you'd rip anyone's arms off if they were offering you that. He's done a good job at making every team he's managed since a solid mid-table Premier League team, again something you'd kill to have. Will Fat Sam fix the team?
