Why do you not think you'll finish in a UEFA cup spot Tonks?

Liverpool are in meltdown, Villa don't look too good.

6th or 7th may be achievable this season.
Meltdown?

Bolton last 6:
3 won, 1 lost, 2 drew.
Liverpool last 6
4 won, 1 lost, 1 drew.

You sure you have that right?
You were challenging for the title two seasons ago.

Yes, but that isn't going to help Bolton get in Europe. What happens this season will. We are st but we aren't in meltdown. smile

Good luck to Bolton, I hope they do well.

WTF?

In the post above I say we are st, we are. We are not in meltdown which is what the post was about. If you had quoted the post rather than just part of it you might have seen that.

Loon is about right rolleyes

True.

But I don't see many teams better than Bolton this season apart from the obvious 5.

Who do you think will end up in the UEFA places?

I do think Bolton have a chance, Everton have a good bunch of players, City or Spurs will be in CL or Europa, LFC have a chance and perhaps some money to spend.

Villa, Sunderland, Birmingham I don't think will make it but they could turn things around and go on a run.

It is a hard season to call, Spurs could go on a run in the CL which might be a problem for them in the league - they don't get many results after a mid-week game.

Ask me after new year hehe

You are st, that's definitely indisputable. That post was made within a minute of mine, so thre's a giod chance I was typing as you pressed submit.

I did quote your post in full, just chose to keep the mods happy and not do multiple quoting of the whole discussion.

Loon is more than "about right", it's spot on and chosen deliberately. Anyway, I'm not staying here being insulted by a Trekkie;)

And, yes, most of this post is in jest (apart from Liverpool being st)

Kevin Davies is on Goals on Sunday, he seems like a top bloke and a credit to your team.

was a bit shakey the first 15 minutes or so. but after that it was business as unusual!!!

5-1 is a great result and to be sat in a champions league spot for 24 hours was a great feeling!

still happy with a top ten finish, anything else will be a bonus.

The biggest bonus will be if Elmo signs the damn contract!!!!

1 year contract offer on the table for Elmo to consider. Probably only offered him £5 per week given our financial situation. Hope we manage to hold onto the players, it is the Ricardo Gardner's, Andy O'Brian's and Cohen's of this world who are probably chewing up some of the wage budget that need to be offloaded. Imagine Ricardo is on a fair old whack seeing that he has been such a great player for us over the years and only recently struggled to get a start.

In fairness Tonk's I'm not sure it is all Megson's fault back in Big Sam's day we had Hierro, Nakata, Diouf, Okocha, Nolan, Jardel, Campo et al all on wages i'm pretty sure far exceed the current burn on the wage bill. Fair play Cahill, Davies, Klasnic and Jussi will be on a big chunk but without them we have no team.

Hopefully a solution to the debt will arise soon enough or things will get gloomy rather quickly. Although I think we are in a much better position than Portsmouth were before they went south, their wage bill under Harry must have eclipsed our's by miles considering the players and squad they had in their FA Cup year.

Finishing in the top four would go some way to covering the wage bill biggrin

Well this was all the way back on page twenty and as it is silly season in the transfer window i thought i would give it some prominance.

Anyway, who we looking at coming in, who we looking at going.

Out so far;

Ricardo Gardner (although a contract extension is on the table)
Jlloyd Samuel
Joey O'Brien
Tamir Cohen
Sam Sheridan
Maison McGeechan
Tom Eckersley
Johan Elmander

A total value of £0, Great Eh!!!!

In so Far;

-

Time to panic yet?!

Not really, so here is the list of people so far mentioned in the rumour mill as coming to our beloved club;

Cameron Jerome (Birmingham £5-8 Million asking price)
Kevin Nolan (again?!??)
Daniel Sturridge (Back on loan if anything at all)
Beram Kayal (celtic £2-5 Million asking price)
Madjid Bougherra (sp) (Rangers)
Darren Pratley (free agent after leaving swansea)
Wes Brown (Man Utd £2 Million at the most!)
Derek Boateng (Getaffe £8 million)

These are the ones i can think of so far. Add yours and discuss the current ones!

This is St Owens chances of stamping his mark on the squad as i do beleive he will have a descent transfer budget especially with the impending sale of Cahill frown

thats why i'm glad they didn't go for wright-phillips, one because obviously we have chungy and two £60,000 a week!!!!

I heard somewhere that no Blackpool player was on more than £10,000 a week. Which obviously to most of us is a hell of a lot of money anyway but wage capping will have to come in at some point.

Unless we sell Cahill I can't see any more than a couple of million being spent on someone that will have to be a gamble.

No chance of buying Sturridge unless John Terry gets knocked down by a bus and they fancy a swap for Cahill.

I'm not sure I want Nobby back. He's still scoring from midfield and without Holden we are missing a centre midfield player, but I'm not sure Nobby deserves a second chance after leaving for a 'bigger' club.

Well no news on Cahill..............yet!

Still possibly in for N'Gog, Boyata and Phillips.

And does anybody else think click lancashire is the worst possible source for transfer news.

Cant wait for Holden to be fit again.

A big step forward for the liverpool game would be Reo Coker and MARK DAVIES in midfield.

Just some ramblings to keep the thread alive!

Good to see a strong performance from Tuncay. Will be interesting to see where SWP ends up, my money is on QPR. Can't say i'm getting excited about Ngog, could pick up much better for £4million.

Holden coming back will be like getting a new signing, rate him highly. Like what i've seen of Eagles so far though a good signing.

Still need a forward though not heard us linked with anyone else apart from Ngog or Jerome and am not a big fan of either.

I'd rather have N'Gog as i think given the chances plus Sir Owen's guidance he could be a pretty good signing.

Also seen that we are after Pedro Leon from Real on a season long loan. Would prefer that than wright philips.

Think the N'gog deal wont be done til after we have played liverfool though

Well a bloody good deadline for us i think last night.

N'Gog and Kakuta in and cahill staying.

Even if we lose him on a free next year i think this is a pivotal season for us to keep him and with the current squad of players plus Holden back we could have a really good push for europe.

Interesteing to see if Boyata will get a few starts over Knight as Knight hasn't exactly been the best over the last couple of games.

The other thing that was interesting was Mr Redknapp saying we wanted Defoe as part of the deal. Would that have been why the N'Gog deal was delayed constantly throughout the day? Just incase we did get Defoe?

anyway, onwards and upwards now.

Agreed - it seems Coyle wanted to add speed upfront - I doubt Ngogg will be a finisher in the league of Sturridge but he may well be a better bet as a starter/Foil for Davies than Klasnic - Kakuta could be a great signing - all in all I think we have had a good window - some issues over the disruption we will face in January if there is renewed effort to prise Cahill away but he might feel his best bet is now to stay and collect a massive sign on fee in the Summer - when Holden returns Coyle has quite a few options in midfield and up front
