Went to the game today, needless to say I was unhappy, as was every single person around me.

Snoddy was absolutely woeful, first five minutes he was fine but after the penalty miss nothing he done worked at all, every cross was straight into Guzans hands, shooting from distance, just had a very poor game.
Why take Redmond off when he's the only player that is going to run at the opposition and beat them!

We're so boring to watch now, I enjoyed watching with Lambert as manager, Hughton is so focused on not losing it makes it impossible to acheive anything. Van Wolfswinkle is a good player but doesnt fit our style of play at all, we don't make enough chances to have a player like that, need someone Holtesque to bully the defenders and make their own chances.

Can't see Hughton lasting a great deal longer, bottom three and that's where we deserve to be at the minute!

I've spent the night in Norwich. Chatted to lots of your lot (mostly my relations) and they agree that the manager is on borrowed time. Most think you are going down this year.

They loved the fact I wore an Ipswich shirt and baited them all evening. Good to see some humour amongst your lot

They also pointed out that they'd love to see us up there with you but agreed that we'll most likely end up playing each other in the chumpionship next season.

See you soon!!!!!

Agree with most of this. Only positive was Remond and Fer.

Villa were there for the taking, we were exceptionally poor, and at home too. Really need a good result at Stoke.

And what was with Pilkinton's attitude!! The guy never stopped moaning.

I've been away for the last week. I watched the game Saturday, albeit with a very big hangover, but from what I can remember, I though we actually played some decent stuff.

Snoddy was awful, and has not got going yet this season. No idea why he took the pen. But Wolfy could and should've had 2 goals, and Hooper should be taking his chance. I've not seen anyone suggesting RVW should be dropped, strange, because he's hardly setting the league on fire...

For me, Fer was decent, Redmond had a quieter game IMO, and while people will say Snoddy should've come off, remember that Redmond is only 19 and we shouldn't burn him out at such a young age, he's still got a lot to learn. He has pace to burn, but we didn't see much of that.

Elmander didn't do much for me, and I'd drop him for Wes, or maybe go with Hopper and RVW.

I think all this Hughton out is down to ridiculous fans expectations. Yes we made some big improvements, but I saw fans talking about top 10 and europe as realistic possibilities. Lets get a grip. The target is stay up for the next few seasons.

Much happier with the game today, CH set the team up to attack and we really had them on the back foot for most of the first half.

Happy days biggrin

I think he must have been listening to the criticisms. Good performance all round. Take it to the opposition, and see what they have to offer - in Stoke's case, not much.

As said, a good performance today. We played really well in the first half, still without really creating too much. We got a little lucky with the goal, a £15m rated keeper should be saving that IMO.

Leroy Fer was outstanding today, he's got all the attributes to be an absolute top player, he can tackle, he works hard, and he can thread the ball through the eye of the needle. A couple of excellent passes, and the pass for Hoopers goal the other night was incredible.

We got Chelsea and Arsenal next, so 3 points today was crucial as we're unlikely to get much from those 2 games.

Hopefully the Hughton outers will calm down.

I'm pretty concerned about RVW. I know it can take time to settle and its still early days, but he's already starting to look like Torres and you can almost see the confidence draining away minute by minute. Perhaps time to give Hooper a run of 5 or 6 games.

The chairman has officially announced that the club is debt free.
I don't think there are many clubs that are in this situation.
Hopefully the results will improve and we will stay up otherwise being debt free will not matter much

So it seems certain sections of the crowd are beginning to turn against Hughton. Personally, I think we're playing a lot better football, we just need to be more clinical. The 2 Manchester games have come at a bad time for us, and really, with how the league is shaping up, we've had a pretty tough start to the season.

Where have you been?

There's plenty around that have been calling for his head since the middle of last season.

They're pathetic. Trotting out st like...

"I'm not a great believer in the fixture list making much difference. We are where we deserve to be, regardless of who we've played. Hughton out."

In our first ten league games we'll have played 5 of last season's top 6.

The only real cause for complaint can be Hull. Cardiff at the weekend was a demolition job. The ball just wouldn't go in.

To be fair, Hughton last season post Xmas was dire. Save the games against West Brom and City, who had nothing to play for, we were desperately poor and I'm not convinced we've improved enough this season just yet, especially given the money spent.

I'm on the fence about him, but I do think he's got a lot to prove.

HBL, I'm always on this thread. I agree, performances dipped after Xmas, but the objective was to stay up, and we were more than comfortable in the end. I think unrealistic fans expectation is what hindering Hughton at the moment. We spent more than we have in any other transfer window this year, and things haven't quite clicked, though the signs are much more promising in the more recent games.

BJG, I'm kind of on the fence too, but while I am on the fence, I'll still support the team and not criticise every single decision the manager makes.

So from what I've heard and read tonight, it sounds like we were crap. Hughton didn't make any real tactical changes, and left the changes til it was all too late. Not that I expected anything, but it would've been encouraging had we gone down fighting or trying something new.

I know you're always on here. I've been on here since about page 20. I've just changed my name. I was more just referring to the fact that loads of fans have had the knives out for Hughton since day one, more or less. Your post made it seem like you hadn't realised.

I'm not firmly in the "Hughton in" camp, but I can't help feeling a bit sorry for the guy, which in turn tends to mean I defend him. Even when his detractors have for a point.

He can do no right in the eyes of some. He's done everything they've been asking recently and they're still not happy.

Getting a win at the weekend against Cardiff would have been a huge boost. Seems it just wasn't to be.

I was one of the many that made the long (awful) trip up there, though as a secondary United supporter from a young age it was also to go to Old Trafford.

Had I been watching purely as a Norwich supporter I would have been gutted, the only time we competed was at the beginning of the first half, but as soon as Snoddy went down and there was the 11 minute break we were out of it. The penalty, though I've not seen it since, was never a penalty in my eyes. Januzaj slipped over half way through a piece of skill and the ref just gave it, not a single united player appealed. Redmond had a good game again, though I'm not sure of the extent of his injury.

Tactically it was all wrong, Hoolahan is too old. He hasn't got any pace what so ever, against a team like United you have to hound them down and pressure them, especially how shaky they've been recently. The changes were made far too late, had Redmond and Snoddy not got injured, the first change would have been with 50 seconds of normal time remaining. Murphy looked good but was barely given a run out, and Elmander just looks like a lazy Holt.

Have to say I'm getting fed up now really, we never seem to be going for a result!

From what I've seen of the last 4 games, we went for it against Stoke, and played well, and won, we went for it against Chelsea, and got caught out with poor play from Tettey and Ruddy and worldy from Willian, and we went for it against Arsenal, but when we made the subs we lost our shape and got done. I didn't watch and haven't seen anything from the Cardiff game, but we totally outplayed them and just couldn't get a goal. The last 4 league games still give me hope that we can turn this around and pick up some wins in the next few games.

After today's abject and embarrasing performance may I suggest one of these for Mr Hughton? We were awful today and to be honest I think we will be relegated. We spent a lot of money on two forwards who couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo. Looks like we will be having an EA Derby next season.
