A difficult game tonight at home to Watford. Bournemouth was disappointing, the referee was very poor. It wasn't a red card. If we get a draw this evening I think we are the champions. Watford still have Swansea and Brentford to play. OTBC!!!

We (Watford) are probably missing our first choice full backs, replacements are no good at all. Chalobah in midfield too. We haven't played well for 4 games.

We're hoping for a point frown

Well it's the dawn of a new Premier League Season and once again Norwich are back in it. How do you think we will do? I am pleased Daniel Farke is still there and some of our Summer signings look good. I just hope we can make a better job of it this season than the last one. However I still feel we just haven't got enough quality in the team and will miss Buendia's creativity.

A lot rests on Gilmour being as good as the hype. Some of the other additions look OK and better than a couple of years ago.

I'm basically more hopeful than last time but not massively ... we need a good start for confidence otherwise I think it may get ugly early.

I was going to say that hopefully Norwich will be much tighter in defence this time round, very glad I didn't smile

I was at the match and I have to say, and it gives no pleasure smile, but Norwich were awful!
The first half was nearly 100% at the other end of the pitch! I got a right pain in my neck straining to see the action!

The stats for the EFL Cup match suggest that possession was shared equally, but City had many more shots on target. Farke has a puzzle to solve - does he use the 2nd XI in future?

A good result on Tuesday albeit against a Championship side. I think he should start Sargent and Tzolis against Leicester. Put Pukki on the bench for this game.

That's my point. It was a good result because Bournemouth were relegated with City, finished 6th last year, and are still a good team. Just because we're now in the Prem doesn't mean we're vastly better than them. I foresee a loooooonnngg year ahead.

The way we are going we will get fewer points than the last time we got relegated.

What's the position with Norwich, playing it safe in terms of spending and not going gung-ho to try to secure Premiership survival? Not saying that's a problem, better than being in Derby's position and entering administration and possible League One. They seem a pretty level headed, well run club from the outside, but interested in the fans view :-)

We’ve spent big by our standards (£50m spend, albeit only £15m nett outgoings) but of course this is absolute small beer by PL levels. Our issue is we’ve brought in a load of players and loanees that are untried on the pitch (pre-season was wrecked by C19). So we’re juggling so many new faces with little idea of their true quality or match fitness, we simply do not know our best starting 11 at present. Which is not ideal when Liverpool, Man City, Leicester and Arsenal are the first 4 games. It needs sorting fast though, 19/20 showed us how a losing mentality is hard to shift, plus after Saturday there were the first real murmurings in the fans forums as to whether Farke is actually out his depth at PL level. This could be a rocky ride here onwards, our board have a history of resisting calls to change the manager and (given the success he has brought) many will consider Farke ‘un-sackable’.

Well yesterday was rather embarrasing. I like Farke and what he has achieved for us over the past few years but I do feel it's time for him to go. He's clearly out of his depth managing in the Premier League. I didn't have high expectations this seasons but the club has now become a laughing stock. It seems to me the players on yesterday's "performance" don't appear to want to play for him. They don't know his system and more to the point I don't think he knows himself. I don't lay all the blame with Farke. Delia and her cronies must also shoulder some of this. I really hope she considers leaving and selling the club. The fans deserve better than this but whilst she still has her fingers in the pie the club won't amount to anything aside from yo yoing up and down. There is a complete lack of ambition in the boardroom. As a Norwich supporter for almost 50 years it pains me to say that I have had enough of the club and the way it's run.

If I was a player or manager I would stay indoors today, and for the rest of the week, it is a complete embarrassment for the club and as said the loyal fans who have supported them over the last 20 years or so deserve so much better.

Made much worse by Brentford and Watford's efforts so far.

At least Steve Bruce is now available smile

Things are looking up now. Unbeaten in four games in the Premier League. We haven't done that since 2013. Three under our new management team. He's playing Gilmour who appears to be making a difference. Not sure why Farke didn't play him. Got a point away in a vital game last night against the Geordies. Could have won it at the end if Lees-Melou had passed to Puuki instead of shooting. Still the players seem to want to play for Dean Smith and he's getting a response. Just hope we can keep up our unbeaten run and move up the table.

Oh well. My initial optimism when Dean Smith was appointed has now rapidly disappeared and we are only heading in one direction. Back to the Championship which is I firmly believe our level. I expect we might Yo Yo again if we retain most of this squad but it will be the same old again if we get promoted with Delia not spending anywhere near the money required to get a Premier League team likely to have a decent attempt at staying up. She just seems to content to take the parachute payments and hope we get promoted again before they stop.

Yes, the club does seem to be content with the Yo-Yo status.

Its interesting to look at Burnley in that regard, as this is their 6th season in the PL since last promotion from Championship, and they've even yo-yo'd up and down the PL during their current stay in the PL (with the same manager)

2016-17 = 16th
2017-18 = 7th and qualification for EL!
2018-19 = 15th
2019-20 = 10th
2020-21 = 17th

There's probably 15+ clubs that are currently in the bottom half of the PL and top half of the Championship that are realistically only ever going to yo-yo up and down between the two, with a 2-5 year stay in the PL each time if they are lucky.

Look how Leeds have struggled this year, in a similar vein to what happened to Sheffield and Huddersfield in recent years and will probably happen to Brentford next season if they indeed manage to stay up this season.

Look at Fulham this season, and yet I bet they will struggle in the PL next season if they as likely they go up.

Genuine question - what's the solution? My in-laws are season ticket holders and just say they need a megarich buyer so they can spend more on players, is that the only way out of where they are that you can see?

I think Delia is happy going up and down every season.

They are probably better off financially doing that than spending big money trying to stay up long term.

Didn't you spend £50 million in the summer ?
