Oh well. My initial optimism when Dean Smith was appointed has now rapidly disappeared and we are only heading in one direction. Back to the Championship which is I firmly believe our level. I expect we might Yo Yo again if we retain most of this squad but it will be the same old again if we get promoted with Delia not spending anywhere near the money required to get a Premier League team likely to have a decent attempt at staying up. She just seems to content to take the parachute payments and hope we get promoted again before they stop.
Genuine question - what's the solution? My in-laws are season ticket holders and just say they need a megarich buyer so they can spend more on players, is that the only way out of where they are that you can see?
But then all the other megarich clubs will up the ante and we'll be back in the same place. And lots of megarich buyers come with dodgy money souces - doesn't sit any better with me than having a gambling company as sponsor.

I think we just have to stay where we are and not follow the rest of football any further down the money hole ... I expect eventually we'll end up as a top half Championship team rather than a yo-yo club and that's OK with me.

Stoke have megarich owners.
They've just written off £160 million in loans, that's just since relegation I think.Something like £300 million spent since they got promoted in 2008.
We're in a worse state on the pitch now than we were then.
Money doesn't guarantee success

Just popped over from the Newcastle thread to say I'm still rooting for you (due to your main sponsor) but it doesn't look good. Will Lotus continue with you next year?

No need to apologise, we’ve been stinking out the PL (… again) and another defeat hastens the inevitable. The PL is no place for ‘self funded’ model clubs such as ours, having an majority shareholder whose nett worth is £30m means we will never compete. Plus so many decisions have been spectacularly poor- we sold our best player and invested the money into a number of c.£10m players, pure and simple gambles none of which have worked out. Meanwhile our Sporting Director, responsible for all the poor recruitment, is only ‘90% committed’ (Times interview, pre-match on Saturday) and then takes the piss out of protesting fans outside the ground after the game. So much at our Club is wrong just now.

An interesting future awaits for the Mags though, it’ll be good to shake up the so called big 6, feathers are going to be ruffled, it’s just a shame about the source of the funds though.

We had about 14 years of dross with Fat Mike, so I know what it's like.
Pukki puts some work in, shame the rest of the team are a little lack lustre but if Management/Ownership is as bad as you say I can understand the malaise.

I still remember who scored the goal which knocked City out of the FA Cup in 1959. I was 8 years old. Never forgot. I really must learn to move on........

We lived about 4 miles away from Carrow Road and I can still remember hearing the roar of the crowd out of my bedroom window for each of our three goals when we beat Sheffield Utd at home in the replay.

I was only 6 years old and should have been asleep.

I could name all the Norwich players even at that age.

How times have changed smile

I saw he had passed away but hadn't linked him to the winning goal.

Yes. We are going well at present after a slow start but we did that under Farke two seasons ago. Good to see Sargent getting games and scoring goals now he's playing in a more central position. Hopefully our new American investor will put some money in to the club.

Shows how competitive the Championship is. This sort of thing happens every year. I won't be surprised if Coventry finish in the playoffs - it's the maddest league in Europe.

At this sad time, with the death of the Queen, a time to reflect on the Norwich City successes during her reign.

And we beat Rochdale 4-0 on aggregate in the 1962 League Cup Final, a moment of true glory.

On a similar theme, the Queen celebrated 3 Jubilees in the time Ipswich Town have been out of the Premier League.… wink

During the Queen's reign, Ipswich won the First division, FA Cup and UEFA cup.

And if taking a leaf out of the Norwich playbook of success, finished 5th in the premier league and are undefeated at home in European competiions against the likes of AC Milan, Real Madrid, Lazio, FC Twente, Feyenoor, Barcelona, Roma, Inter Milan etc.

And of course Ipswich celebrated a cup win against Norwich in the Texaco Cup, surprised they don't mention they were runners up in that.

COYB!
