Thorne was an odd one, cos he had a decent scoring record just about everywhere else, before and after us. Similar stats on paper to Holt, journeyman who did a job pretty much anywhere. Who knows what happened...
The were a lot of rumours that he liked the coasts of Norfolk Dale, Do you ever post on the Pinkun?

Sounded like we were dealt with today. Played well in the first half and poor in the second. Nevermind, at least most results around us have gone for us so we haven't lost much ground.
Yep, Pompey did a number on us. Played well enough to be 3 goals up in the first half, but you have to stick it in the net. Jackson in particular missed a sitter. Dunno why we didn't bring McNamee on earlier, after they changed their shape in the 2nd half we desperately needed more width and pace.
No, don't post on the Pinkun - browse it occasionally but theres so many armchair experts spouting total bks, it's a tough read sometimes

played alright first half,Jackson missed a good chance, second half just showed how much we miss Holt,he's the one player we can't replace when he's out,as for Barnett is there a big ban coming up for chucking the ball at the ref?
Even if we lose Barnett for a few games I reckon Nelson would step in fine. More limited technically but he looked solid early in the season. Agree on Holt, but I don't think just signing another target man would really replace him when he's out. He's captain for a reason, his enthusiasm and determination are infectious, keeps the whole team honest.
Probably down to where he's come from, scratching around the lower leagues for donkeys years never getting a true chance to shine on a higher stage (and wage!)

Anyone care to put any names forward as to who we could sign realistacally as competition for Holt?
I'm struggling...

I just watched the highlights of your match.

Dale, you went to great lengths to point out the disgraceful behaviour of our 'fans' at carrot road when they tore out seats and threw them (totally agree that it's not acceptable), however, your moral high ground has been (quite ironically) thrown away.
One could quite clearly see that Missiles were thrown at pompey players on several occasions and the ill discipline of a player actually throwing the ball at the ref in petulance. What are your thoughts on this?
Please don't try and put some sort of positive spin on it.

Mellor is at Sheff Weds i think, hes had a lot of injury problems, had potential, but those injuries have taken there toll now. One player worth looking at is Adam Le Fondre, hes got around 40 odd goals in his last season and a half, he 24, 5'11 so not a replacement for Holt, but he clearly knows where the goal is. Hes spent all of his career in league 2 i think, but would probably be available for around 150k ish.
I'm sure Lambo has his own targets and ideas for what hes looking for and i'd expect us to add one or two more in January.

There is no place for that in football anywhere.
Unfortunately it seems to be on the rise across English football, mostly by Danny Dire worshipping little chavs who think they're "a bit 'ard"
It shouldn't be difficult to identify and permanently ban the culprits given the quantity and quality of CCTV cameras at the ground.
As for Barnett chucking the ball at the ref, god only knows what was going through his head. I think he realised he'd dropped a b*llock straight away and apparently went to the refs dressing room to apologise before he even went back to the teams.
Given past incidents of a similar nature he's looking at a hefty ban, probably 6-10 games.

Sorry davemac, I have certain priorities in life that rank slightly higher than replying to messageboard posts. You know, work, family that sort of thing. So, Dale, what you are saying is; a "family club" like yours (as ours is) has it's element of scum and you won't be focussing on that in future?
For what it's worth I was in the crowd at PR in the north stand in one of our previous derbies and heard one of our "fans" call Saffri a "fking yid suicide bomber". I was appalled at the ignorance and told him to shut the fk up. Derby or not, a level of respect has to be maintained

I'd like the club itself to focus on it and get the idiots banned from the club permanently.Sometimes I do wonder if any club gives it a high enough priority, seems to be on the rise across the board.
Haven't heard of any arrests for the seat throwers thus far, and it wouldn't suprise me if the same is true for the coin throwers on Saturday.
I think it's in football's interests to sweep things like this under the carpet as much as they can get away with.
