fking bargain, 7.2 mill for potentially a world class mid. He will be worth 30 mill in 1-2 years pending no injuries.
Congratulations from a Norwegian Geordie.
Indeed! He is only 22 as well. I imagine if there is a buy-out clause in his contract is might be fairly eye-watering...
I'd heard Hoff wanted 10mil earlier in the summer. He done an excellent job for you guys the second half of the season. I think 30mil is a slight exageration, but it could prove a shrewd buy.

I'd expect you guys would need a fe more players, as mentioned a couple of defenders and at least 1 more decent striker. Is there enough in the pot? Any worries about 2nd season syndrome? It would appear that teams seemed to sort of suss out your style of play towards the end of the season. Do you think you'll have a plan B for next season?

Also, surely your board wouldn't sanction a £7mil deal if Rogers was going?

Good news for you guys and exciting times...

I said 30 mill in a few years, not atm. If he continues developing nicely I can see him becoming the next yaya tourè or frank lampard.
In a climate where henderson and Downing go for 20 million, a 21 year old Midfielder banging in goals for an average team could easily fetch 30 million.

Quality will always be expensive

All rodgers were saying was that he wasnt going to grovel for the job by going to an interview. Hardly ruling himself out is it.

I dont get where the rodgers wkery is coming from.
Flatline,

Odd comment you make, Brendan has been pretty up front. Every Manager has their price, pride, and career to consider. I think his decision is crystal, and that we must also be close to securing Gylfi who will have more certainty. LFC has history, lots of it, but not the right move when he's got so many prima donnas to deal with at a 'big' club.
Time to eat your hat petfrog hehe

If he goes, there'll be no second season syndrome, a new man and all that. Gylfi wont come if Rodgers goes. What exactly has Rodgers achieved, nothing at Watford and Reading, promotion with a team built by Sousa and Martinez, although he must have added something. Norwich had a much better season in the Prem than we did IMO. Sure we took some scalps, but we couldn't beat the 'bread and butter' teams, the draws were painful to watch at times. We play nice football, but we have always done so over decades (my first game was '79), I just don't see that he's going to set the world alight at this moment in time. At first I was disappointed that he might go, but we've been there before with Martinez, which hurt much more as he'd been a great player and club captain. 'Graveyard of ambition' my arse laugh

Disappointed to say the least but think he is going to get a hiding at Liverpool. Not surprised in the least either given what my Watford supporting friend warned me of!

Oh well, no one is bigger than our club and I trust Huw 100% to find someone as good if not better than Rodgers.

Onwards and upwards!

There are few people hated more than Rodgers at Watford. How we laughed when he failed to deliver at Reading biggrin

Good reaction guys. At the end of the day, he done a good job for you, and, life goes on and football goes on. Poyet appears to be the early favourite. If, more like when, Lambert leaves to go to Villa (which I think is very likely), i'd be happy with Poyet.

I should think you are more disappointed with jepodising Gylfi transfer... Plus, now clubs know you've got a bit of dosh, fees will be going up...

Gutted he has gone but no man is bigger than the club! We need a decent manager who understands how we like to play the game but also who has a plan B up his sleeve. When we can't break teams down by passing them off the pitch we have struggled!
Would not mind seeing Poyet or AVB take over

Doubt gylfi is coming now. Horrible for swansea like, Gylfi and another creative player in and you could have fought for top-8 next season?

Now? Survival must be #1 prio

Yes, Rodgers has st on our Chairman from a great height given the efforts he went to get Sigurdson to sign.

Given Rodgers previous I can see some of our better players (Ash Williams, Allen, Sinclair) jumping ship and then we are really in the poo.

So would you guys take him back in a few months when he's failed at Anfield and taken massive severance pay? whistle

yes

To tell the truth, I'm not to disappointed at him going. At least it's to a proper big club with real ambitions to win things, not a small Cloob like Wigan wink
My real dissapointment is the thought of possibly (probably) losing sigurdsson after coming > < this close to signing him. A proper premier league class scoring midfielder!
I'm getting st off people about Brendan coming back to take players such as Joe Allen and Ash William. All I can say is Liverpools cheque book better be ready to take a raping. £20mill for Jordan Henderson wasn't it??? They can fk right off if they think they can take those two for peanuts smile
