Lots of positives to take from the game - Canas was good, Shelvey direct, Bony got in good positions and scored a neat goal.
Also some worries. Yes RVP is arguably the best player in the league but our defence looked like they had never played together before. Perhaps gave Utd a bit too much respect again.
Anyway, we won't have to play against a strike force like that every week!

My post from another forum:
Lovely to be able to watch the Swans on TV regularly whilst living in S.E. England!
A few observations:
- Shelvey could be the real deal, but I stress the could. His range of passing is something we have not seen at the Swans before but he needs to stop going missing when the heat is on.
- Bony is really cr*p isn't he. I mean, he has played four games and scored four goals and already I can see he will not work for us. This was a response to a few posters on said forum who were criticising Bony for his hold up play!
- Agree with all comments about Hernandez - exquisite one minute, frustrating the next.
- Taylor / Britton / Ash / Chico faultless.
Now not wanting to be blasphemous or too critical after a 5-1 win BUT, and I said this last season, what has happened to the old Michel Vorm? You know, the one who against Man City two years ago would have had the reflexes to even attempt to keep that goal out?
Might get slammed for this too but not convinced by Michu's overall performances recently - he seems to be trying too many clever flicks and tricks that are not coming off and forgetting some of the more simple things. Can't fault his work ethic though which has been 100% for 90 minutes.
Roll on Sunday!

My thoughts on today, we need to play our strongest 11 whether home or away, WTF was Bony doing on the bench. We seem to be playing far more long balls than we used to, the ref was as dire as we were. If Suarez had dived like that he'd have been crucified already. Should Leon have played today instead of midweek?? Spurs stopped Davies and Rangel getting forward, which we missed badly. Thank MOTD2 is not on tonight.
Agreed, but we won and are in the next round. J De G is not on form, we gave a youngster his first game up front and we just don't do well against teams who like to push their weight around. WBA is the real test and will show us where we are. With hindsight, Shelvey should have been kept for this game.
Glad to see Tiendalli back.
Glad to see Tiendalli back.
No Vorm, Williams, Shelvey, Routledge, Dyer, Bony. Ki came on and did better than J de G, Donnelly started and did ok but got very little ball, niggly game and Leon getting sent off about sums it up. Michu played well as did Chico. Lamah took his goal well. Amat still a bit green, Pozuleo needs to either play out wide or in the middle, he tries both. It was never going to be a classic, they needed four goals and we just wanted to progress without any damage.
Hostile atmosphere in the ground and some think that Tremmell was getting a laser in the face, although I thought it was an odd reflection from the LED advertising boards coupled with camera tricks/poor broadcast quality.

I think us Albion fans are feeling the same about you lot. Well, at least I am anyway. I think whoever wins (if indeed there is a winner) will find that this result proves to be the kick start we both need. Both teams are really quite good and victory over either would be a big result after a stuttering start to the league.
