That would be "bad respray purple", probably done because "it's proper cheap, innit?"

Lol, I was thinking its some sort of special colour e.g. Dakar yellow etc.

Indeed! Sorry but its utterly ghastly and representative of just how classic Imprezas developed a bad rep.

How on Earth anyone managed to actually convince him to buy it I've no idea.

I wouldn't go that far, taste is subjective!

I just can't imagine Subaru releasing something like that, Imprezas tend to come in "safe" colours.

Nope its definately not yellow.

If the paint is not actually as bad as the pics make out maybe it could be saved somewhat (well to an extent). He could start by getting rid of those tacky rear lights.

Type RA is lovely but do you mind me asking why you ditched the rear wing?

Paint isn't that bad in the flesh, the rear lights are going to be replaced with standard ones,

RAs don't have a rear wing for the sake of "weight saving"

Nope, RA`s do usually have a low level rear wing. All standard, turbocharged, classic imprezas have a rear wing of some sort.

Yeah that's what I thought. Every ra I've seen has the curvy mid-height wing.

The very early ones never had rear spoilers.

Well I didn`t know that.

SO for 10 months they made one with no rear spoiler, after this all turbos came with one.

The one above is a 1995 though so did originally come with one. It looks like you can see where it was removed they have plugged the holes in the boot.

Dear lord. I hope he bought it with the intention of changing it from McDonald's car park purple to one of the OEM colours.

Hey all, My 94 RA did come with a mid level spoiler, but would have originally come with a low level. I removed it to save weight as it really doesn't do anything. It saved me about 10Kg's and as you know it all adds up. It should look a bit better once coilovers are fitted along with some nice wheels. But Impreza's without spoilers are very Marmite.

10kg?!

Jesus, that's a lot. Personally, I love a big wing on an Impreza but to each his own thumbup

yes I like the high level on the facelift cars. I don't even run with a spare wheel as im a weight saving nut, only on longer journey's

Nope, your wrong, very few RAs had wings. and its not just the early stuff!

Here is a page from the JDM brochure for a 99 V6 WRX RA as you can see no wing,

STi RAs on the other hand often did.

So now you know, maybe you'll check your facts before being so dismissive wink
