Really sorry to hear the news. Having worked in the motor trade dealer networks for over twenty years, personally, I've only experienced human error causing this issue a small number of times.

The dealer who is at fault has to pay for the necessary replacement parts as long as it can be verified that human error was the cause, or they have accepted liability. You should absolutely demand getting a courtesy car whilst your Impreza is out of action. The dealer should do everything to make sure you are not inconvenienced if you are still unsure of what action to take and perhaps might go ahead to get it fixed.

If you have already decided to get your money back, then make sure you are refunded in full.

If you need any further help or advice then please drop me an email.

Best of luck.

Thanks Edar for your post, I did get a full refund less a small amount for the 1600 miles / 8 weeks I used it. A sad ending, but onwards and upwards and I'm sure I'll get another Scoob.

So I had to buy a cheap runaround today so I could get back and feed my pup every lunch time. Looked at loads of 1.0 Corsas, Fiestas etc and felt like killing myself. Then this little gem came to my attention:

75,000 miles, full SH and will have a service and new brakes all round next week. Doubled my 'budget' but it is a real fun little thing. Obviously no where near the thump of the WRX but better for my commute to work and back.

I'll update this thread with another Scoob, I'm sure biggrin

Shame about the scoob frown

Excellent choice on interim steed. Should be very reliable and a damn site more frugal than the scoob.

Look forward to seeing your next scoob. thumbup

Thanks Scoob.

TBH, I'm really enjoying the Polo and am thinking of buying SWMBO a sensible estate instead of another Impreza Wagon. We'll see, but I can see me getting a blob STi as a project car at some point.

Get a 2005 car, as they are the best wink wider track, better interior, better wheels. Best of the new age cars smile
