Chaps,
My drivers side rear wheel has started to squeal when costing like a metal on metal sound but not when braking or accelerating and looking at my pads they look low so I think I need to get some pads.
Does anyone have any recommendations on good pads for a Classic RB5 (99)?

Check your Rotors (discs) as well. There will be a minimum thickness on those and if you are at the limit now is a good time to get those replaced.

Only just seen this. I use Godspeed stuff, but I have put 2-pots on the back, and use kevlar type pads.
What did you go for in the end?

I'd certainly try to get the same Breed/Compond as the Front brakes, this should keep your brake balance correct. With a 99 car hard to tell what pads are in the front now, unless you replaced them last. I've used quite a few types and really depends on your "Usage"  Ferodo DS2500's are normally a safe bet, EBC's are clean, Brembo noisy but good & Carbotech awesome  but sorry I'm not a mintex or Pagid fan I wouldn't put them on a bike(but that's me) Lot's of suplliers out therebut be wary of "Wing Wang Wooo" brands off ebay  I've used all of the below and recieved excellent service off all of them Ayln @ AS PERFORMANCE http://asperformance.com/BOB @ AZTEC PERFORMANCE http://www.superhids.co.uk/CAMSKILL http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.phpIAN @ GODSPEED BRAKE http://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/~godspeed/category...Tony PS I do not work or get commision off any of the above but have No problems if mods wish to remove links

Thanks for the detailed reply Tony, I appreciate it.
The front brakes were replaced 6 months before I bought the car so are quite new but unknown. They are however excellent compared to my old Civic Type R and my old 09 Golf I just gave back (company car-end of lease).
Maybe I can be cheeky and ask about manifolds here.
My car recently had the manifold welded as it had a hairline crack but it looks in fairly poor condition so I want to replace it but I'm unsure of how much I should pay/brands etc.
Can you please help?

Lee Lee, Can of worms LOL, You can pay anything from £150 -£5,000 for a set of Headers As yours is a UK car might be worth You may getting on Ebay for a second hand direct replacement. There are quite a few variant of material from cast, steel, Stainless. titanium and ceramic. Then there are Two "shape variants" Un-equal length headers and equal length headers. The un-equal lenght give the Scooby it's burble but the Equal you lose the majority of burble but get some power gains. There is also later 2001 on Jap variants that are equal and twin scroll turbo  if you want new try Scooby worlld, japspeed,RCM,MilteK to name a few.To be honest I've fitted lots of Magnex & Miltek stuff over the years and found the seem to fit Great and have not of problems with others above. IMHO Magnex is budget price systems but always seems to be good value for the money and simply fits well  BUT be wary of some cheapo "ebay" exhaust sometimes not a great fit, and heard they struggle to get them fitted and to keep gaskets rom leaking. or they crack under stress. but maybe due to exhaust or inexperienced "fitters" LOL. Tony. Ps IMHO never fit cheap Tyres or disks and pads. There are good quality ones out there a tad dearer but the cars worth it. Avoid 95oct fuel and use 97+oct, Used Good Oil Always do a mile or so "Off boost" before turning off engine. Avoid fast sharp right hand corner with under 1/4 tank. Be carefull washing car with engine running or Tooo much Oil on an Air filter or "induction kits" the V5 & V6 MAF sensors are quite delicate and either will **** them. car will run lumpy or not at all. (sometimes works) disconnect and get home steady off boost. buy the insert £60-80 ish Ps enjoy

I spent about £600 on this month with a full service with additional bits (new plugs etc) and had some bodywork issues resolved. The car is looking and sounding much better now. I tend to warm the car for 10 minutes before giving it a workout and then 2-3 minutes before switch off but tend to do the last few miles gently. I definitely want to keep the Subaru sound, sound is quite important too me and when its behaving itself it sounds awesome even just cruising or slowing down. I'm not sure why but mine also pops and bangs a huge amount too, much more than other classics I've heard. Thanks anyway for the advice, I appreciate it! Lee

Thats tidy as you seem an Enthusiast  Most Scoobs are bought very cheap IMHO and then the new owners ignore the advice and Put £0.20p per litre @@@@ 95oct fuel in, then 90% of the time on limiter doing doughnuts around Halfords carpark  they then post up, I've owned this Subaru for 4 weeks and it's knocking...... was I sold a DUD....... no you ywaT YOU abused it  LOL Tony

I couldn't imagine going back to a company car after this! I only run it on the best fuel (its got the prodrive map and says everywhere 97 and above only). I'm going to spend as much on bringing the car back to health as it cost me too buy! And I'm absolutely happy to do so! Lee
