You can't be pushing it too hard in the corners? I've found the flex in the side-walls is quite marked when you do.

I don't think you have tried these R1R yet, bloody amazing tyre in the wet. Cost may be a reason as they aren't cheap but Toyo have a genuinely cracking good tyre there. Right in the middle of T1R and R888. Agree about T1R, thought they were good when they first came out and i still think they are OK in the wet but there are better tyres for the same money.

Haven't tried the R1R, the semis I had on the mx5 for a while gripped well in the wet when they were warm but were pretty hard and slippery when cold - not dangerously, but not predictably enough to be fun either. More a compound than tread pattern issue.

Super sticky when warm and dry, but personally I had just as much (probably more) fun with normal road tyres giving involvement at more sensible speeds rather than just blitzing everything. If you're after a combination road and track tyre I can see the appeal though.

Have to agree with others about T1R, grip isn't bad but the squidgy soft sidewalls ruined the feel and I never had much confidence in the tyres. Plus they sliced up and punctured pretty easily.

What people have to be aware of when asking about tyres there are four important considerations

1) The Car -: Classic, Newage or Hatch>
2) The optimum Size -: (wich IMHO is just +1" over STD) so Classic 17" Newage 18" and Hatch 19"
3) Usage -: Motorway, Mix Motorway & A roads, A+B roads or Track and Hedge
4) Driver -: Going to golf, Likes dump valve sound in shopping centres, Lunatic everywhere

Someones a lightweight Classic, on a T1R 205mmx40x17", A&B's ad Golf maybe brill but can be a pile of @@@@ in heavy Hatch, 245x40x19, Track n Hedge and lunitic.

Toyo's T1R's are like you say "squidgy" on the heaveir newage cars. with the little sidewall strength great for motorway use and NO tramlining. Fair grip in wet. but they turned a great handling T20 on bridgestone RE070's into an under-steering, tyre squealing wreck IMHO

T888's are good but very little tread RE070's are a much better value tyre and no difference in performance IMHO
BUT the hard tyrewall makes overtaking on normal roads awkward due to tramiling over white lines in roads can send the car sideways if your not used to it

Really rate as a great road tyres on heavier Newage

My vote for classic fit would be AD08's

Huge dry grip, good wet. Hard walled so precise turn-in. Wear factor is decent, keeping their shoulders very well where others fall by the wayside after only 1000 miles, progression is beautiful, but dry grip is simply massive
