The last French stuff i ever touched was back in my yoof. Her name was Greta and she was an exchange student.

It certainly didn't take me long to remove all the time consuming layers before i got to her pulleys! hehe

More details for those who have a hesitating scooby, and want to add a few more items to check on the list is.....

the neutral switch. Mine was FUBAR. limits the ECU and power (more so on STI's as it removes the AVCS or V-tec or whatever it is hehe)
£40 for the part and 15mins to fit if you have girlie hands like me hehe
Does play havoc apparently.
The car should feel like a new car when i get it back smile

Faulty NPS (Neutral Position Switch) on an STi is worth as much as 30 ponies in lost power. That's quite a chunk if you run a standard car.

This looks like quite a find. Where did you buy it from? eBay etc?

Autotrader. Was taken as p/x and the dealer was getting fed up of being offered '£1000 cash innit, bruv'
I offered a good chunk off, but said I was happy to take it as it was (dented, filthy and covered in dog hair)
They turn up, but you have to be quick.

It's currently running 1000x better and I'm really enjoying it smile
Needs more bhp now it's smooth though hehe

More work on the scoob.
Finally got of my arrise and fitted my neutral switch.

Nice and easy to do to be honest. Then came the fact that I had little or no rear brakes.
Apologies for the pic

It seems the pads where rammed in there with no possible chance of ever moving.
But having cleaned out the calipers, and cleaned the edges of the pads, the scoob with now brake on the nose.
How it ever passed an mot like it ill never know.
Neutral switch has made the car change character completely. Nice and smooth and finally no hesitation on boost!
So the cars now running as OEM intended, it's time to start the modification plans. Decent shocks springs are brakes are a first, with exhaust and boost to follow.

Small update with the car. Aircon idle pulley died, and am currently airconless. Tensioner is on its way. Also after the neutral switch and my recent Cosworth panel filter, I've added Pagid RS4-2 pads to the fronts. I've also had a live diagnostic session on the car that picked up a lazy front 02 sensor, which at full revs and boost is giving me 9deg of knock retardation. But it is working, and the car is smooth and as strong as an ox.
Just clicked over 130k and going to be tracked at silverstone next weekend.

Can't think of anything else that delivers so much for so little money. Mine had some fairly minor issue which where easy to track once you know where to look smile

Agreed, I often think they are a huge amount of car for the small amount of money. I guess the damaged image and running costs are the biggest contributor.

I love mine and enjoy driving it each day! smile

My insurance is pretty cheap on my classic RB5. I pay £600 fully comp per year with break down cover, legal cover, courtesy car etc.

Id take a guess at you being slightly older than me (few days of being 21)

Missed this, damn it.

I have a slight hesitation at say 70mph+, it seems to hesitate and then picks up then hesite and then pick up etc etc, doesn't happen at lower speeds or at least isnt as noticable.

Was this the same hesitation you had?
