Yeah, that wagon is well overpriced for the miles too.

I sold my well sorted STi wagon with under 60K miles for £5K

If I found one of these I'd be over the moon!!

Not sure if this is a repost but spotted this WRX Wagon... (sorry for hijack!) it's really tempting me over an ST220 I was going to look at this weekend... whats the price like for this mileage / spec? I see it's got PPP - I'm not desperate for one with the PPP as I'd happily do the mods myself but I guess if it's already got it then it's not a bad thing!

I've been tempted to look at this but it's not very close to me and a) is way overpriced b) I don't want blue c) no colour coded skirts. It has been on a while so not sure if the dealer will not it down to near 4k?

Enquired about that one. It's 5k over due a service. Has 1 odd ditch finder tyre (needs a pair of rear tyres) and doesn't have a PPP according to what I have checked. It also needs Cambelt in 10k. Dealer says he'll put 2 tyres on it if I pay 4.8k.

I know I'm picky but that one wasn't filling me with confidence and I'm sure after a 2 hour drive I'd have to walk away.

Agreed on the price - I hadn't spotted the skirts but I really like the blue myself (albeit a bit cliché!). It's not really close to me either (I'm Oxford) but I'm tempted to drive for the right car as I've seen nothing that fits the bill that is even remotely close other than a couple of doggedly rough cars that I walked away from.

Out of interest were colour coded skirts an option? I'm thinking you could just have the skirts taken down a respectable bodyshop and have them colour coded to match? Seems that a few of the WRX's I've looked at have black side skirts frown

Another here (dealer though) but seems a bit too much of a good price for SL spec car? No mention of service history and could be due a few expensive items maybe?

The blue one in the Subaru dealership looks good. I like the extra spoiler and mud flaps. If he can move on price it looks pretty good but I've not been to see it for a good look.

OP, you sorted yet or still looking?
Still looking!

It's a pretty similar story to embeddedbob. I've decided to settle on any nice blob/bug/hawk with or without PPP. Looked at a few. Called about a lot. I know I'm being fussy but as I don't actually need a car I don't really are!

It's quite interesting looking around especially when you push people for details: it's got FSH and clearly wanted for nothing.......why has it got one odd ditch finder and 5k overdue a service?!

I went to see one at a garage the other day which was about 1500 overpriced IMO thinking i'll see what he can get knocked down to. I didn't even bother to approach the garage owner after looking around the car. Even if it was half the price I wouldn't want to own it!!

I'm finding that there are so many cars that aren't quite up to scratch that I don't want to travel to see one that even has a sniff of not good enough.

I have cash in the bank and tbh I don't really have a budget. I've been tempted by a GB270 wagon but I think it's too nice to throw my muddy gear in. I just want something looked after and worth the money. These wagons are overpriced. I think I've now spotted 3 that I would buy for the cash but they have sold very quickly and before I could view them.

As I say the bonus is I don't actually need a car so I'll keep looking!!

Unfortunately if you google anything like 'ppp wagon' this thread is the first hit.......I don't think I'm helping the situation by posting this!

This one looks keenly priced. I'm not going to be able to get down to it but someone might be close. Seller only has 3 feedback and looks to have been on eBay for 5 minutes which seems odd. Might be worth a look though.

Spotted that but it's the other side of the country.

Saw an absolute dog of a wrx at auction this evening. 04 saloon. Was about 3.5k with fees and it was a real dog. I was gob smacked.

The search continues.....

I went to view this car this morning. FWIW, clean car, drives nicely and a thoroughly nice and genuine seller.
No real rust on the underside, pulls cleanly, no smoke, good tyres.
Overall a nice and pretty much standard car.
Any reason you didn't buy it?

It would have to be less than 3 k to tempt me I think. SCOOBIEWRX is spot on IMO.

Just bought an 04 wagon. Completely standard. 2 owners full subaru history. 76k

Pics to follow. Time to look for some bits; what air box is reccomended. I'm either after a prodrive exhaust or similair (not too loud) what are my options? Anything else before a re-map to around ppp power?

Thanks guys.

Excited, much.

Factory airbox is fine. You just need a high flow flat panel air filter from K&N or Green Panel to replace the factory one. You have 3 cats on your WRX. One in the uppipe that need decatting, and one in the scrubber cat after the main cat. Leaving the main cat(in the downpipe) in place ensures you get through emissions testing come MOT time. Quality remap and you should see 270-280bhp and plenty of torque. Job done.
Roger. So filter looks straight forward.

The de-catting: do I de-car the standard exhaust and change the back box or do I buy a new exhaust system or are both options?

Thanks for the info.

So looking around google I need a panel filter. An up-pipe, a down pipe and probably car back system or back box. What's the best route here? Buy a full exhaust system or get the bits?

You don't need to go completely decat to get good power and torque. Decat Uppipe and scrubber cat replacement pipe is all you need. Going fully decat is great and no harm in doing that unless you're going to struggle to get the car through emissions testing come MOT time. If you don't have an MOT friendly garage you're better sticking with leaving the main cat in place.

In WRX form it has to be said that the 2.5's have the edge. You still get the TD04 turbo as in the 2ltr, and it has to be said, once mapped that TD04 is a giggle. Shedloads of torque from way low down and it becomes a cracking good overtaking car, but the turbo does start to run out of puff fairly quickly on these come 5000+rpm. You get AVCS as well which when calibrated properly provides even more low down torque awesomeness. Goes like stink when it's done. I prefer the WRX in 2.5ltr guise, and the Hawkeye is a good looking car too, specially in wagon form.

ETA: You'll only start to think about engine lasting when you get past the 320-330bhp mark. There are plenty of 2.5 STi's mapped to 400bhp on standard internals and are just fine. There are a few however that have problems and even at 320-330bhp go pop. WRX wise though i wouldn't worry about it as it's not an issue with these. Buy one and enjoy it smile

I think I understand that the cat in the down pipe is the main cat and to get through mot I should leave this one in place.

You are suggesting replacing the up pipe and 'scrubber' cat which is the cat located after the down pipe? I'm new to imprezas so sorry for all the questions!

Hi.
Ideally what you need to do is remove the cats from the up-pipe just before the turbo and the scrubber immediately after the turbo. Leave the last cat in place for emissions purposes.
then fit a new higher flowing back box and get a remap. Job done.
Thanks for the info but this isn't what I believed to be the case. I believe the main cat is in the down pipe just after the turbo followed by the scrubber cat which is just after the down pipe. My research suggests to get through mot I leave the down pipe (with the main cat within it) in place and get rid of the cat in the up pipe and he cat located just after the down pipe.

Am I right or am I wrong?!?!!!

woohoo, at last

I have a prodrive on mine and I dont like it as much as the prodrive one I had on my last classic, that was excellent
no more info on that, wish I knew i'd have one on mine

If you do decat make sure you get it remapped as well, have known engine lights to come on for what i presumed was due to the decat and no remap

well done on the purchase
was it SL?
No SL unfortunately but I've spent long enough looking i thought lets just get something close and go from there. 3800 so I think I got a reasonable deal. It's just had discs and pads too which is a bonus. I haven't found anything broken on it yet so I'm pretty happy. No noise from suspension either. Looking for an exhaust will give me Sonething to do!!

I'm going to check all the levels on it tomorrow before I drive it anymore.
