I would be looking for one which has had tasteful mods already done. This way you get a sorted car, with the work done, and at a fraction of the cost.

My wagon had a fair few £000 spent on it, and still went for a price not too much more than a std one.

A silver 04 plate 77k all paperwork looked good and ppp fitted was on trader last week at 4250. It sold at the weekend.

Yeah, that wagon is well overpriced for the miles too.

I sold my well sorted STi wagon with under 60K miles for £5K

If I found one of these I'd be over the moon!!

Not sure if this is a repost but spotted this WRX Wagon... (sorry for hijack!) it's really tempting me over an ST220 I was going to look at this weekend... whats the price like for this mileage / spec? I see it's got PPP - I'm not desperate for one with the PPP as I'd happily do the mods myself but I guess if it's already got it then it's not a bad thing!

I've been tempted to look at this but it's not very close to me and a) is way overpriced b) I don't want blue c) no colour coded skirts. It has been on a while so not sure if the dealer will not it down to near 4k?

Agreed on the price - I hadn't spotted the skirts but I really like the blue myself (albeit a bit cliché!). It's not really close to me either (I'm Oxford) but I'm tempted to drive for the right car as I've seen nothing that fits the bill that is even remotely close other than a couple of doggedly rough cars that I walked away from.

Out of interest were colour coded skirts an option? I'm thinking you could just have the skirts taken down a respectable bodyshop and have them colour coded to match? Seems that a few of the WRX's I've looked at have black side skirts frown

Another here (dealer though) but seems a bit too much of a good price for SL spec car? No mention of service history and could be due a few expensive items maybe?

Enquired about that one. It's 5k over due a service. Has 1 odd ditch finder tyre (needs a pair of rear tyres) and doesn't have a PPP according to what I have checked. It also needs Cambelt in 10k. Dealer says he'll put 2 tyres on it if I pay 4.8k.

I know I'm picky but that one wasn't filling me with confidence and I'm sure after a 2 hour drive I'd have to walk away.

The blue one in the Subaru dealership looks good. I like the extra spoiler and mud flaps. If he can move on price it looks pretty good but I've not been to see it for a good look.

They all had black side skirts when I purchased mine, They only take a minute to clip off and the car doesn't look too bad without them. Sprayed them up and left the laquer to dry for a week, jobs a good 'un! It looks so much lower now, definitely worth doing if you're handy with paint smile

Coincidentally, it may actually be for sale soon too.

Hi chaps.
I'm thinking about one of these to go with the B10.
Do they have ISOFIX points in the back?

Also, what sort of MPG do you get when not caning the daylights out of it?

Yes they do have ISOFIX points in the rear.

The fuel tank in the Impreza is 60 litres, with I think 5 of that used as the reserve fuel when the light goes on, lets say 60 litres to keep it simple. On a good motorway run I've got near 300 miles out of a tank and when I've filled up it's been around 50/55 litres. Long story short 26/28 mpg on a long run.

My mate who had the car before me use to get a lot less but that was because his wife used it around town.

My wife once drove it to Bristol from London down the M4 at 50mph and we saw 40 mpg. When we reached Wales I soon put that right. biggrin

This is a shameless plug with no link but my MY2004 WRX Wagon in black is up for sale and it will be sorely missed.

Shameless plugs welcome... wink and thanks for the feedback guys.
Oddly, I'm averaging almost exactly 20mpg out of the 4.6 V8 in the Alpina and that will nudge 30 on a run (although hits about 11 punting around town).

I can live with the WRX sort of MPG for runs to the station and back.

I'm thinking an 02 era blob eye wagon. Are there any readily avilable buyers guides? How many miles before turbos and shocks kick the bucket generally?

I've only ever seen an average of 23mpg out of all my Scooby's - some slightly more, some a fair bit less

I found Scoobynet pretty useful for advice but never found any buyers guides, although Autocar did do one a few months back.

Not sure on general wear and tear but, in my opinion, the general impression I've got is they're robust and built to last.

Shameless plug:
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2013...

It's not PPP but has a Prodrive backbox and I've got a Prodrive sport-cat downpipe and Hayward&Scott cat delete pipe sitting in the garage gathering dust. Intended to put them on it, install Walbro fuel pump and get it mapped but couldn't justify the extra outlay (yet I went and spunked a load of cash on a diesel). If anyone is interested contact me directly as I appear to be highjacking this thread.

As above, great car and if my situation changes I'd buy another one. Struggling to think what can be as good for the money.

31mpg, best yet on remapped wagon. Reckon I could better that, as several heavy foot maneuvers carried out!

He might not be but Im still looking. Ideal spec 03-04 blue PPP with < 80k.

Been to see 4 so far:
1st had leaking diff, leaking rear caliper, dodgy paintwork and had been sat unused for some time.
2nd had quite a bit of corrosion underneath, missing service, cam-belt due and thus was too much £ for the mileage and work required (was blue PPP spec though).
3rd had suspension problems (backed up by MOT history), was low on coolant and had overfilled oil. Was asking too much.
4th was good on paper, black PPP and just under 60k but the guy wanted 6k (advertised for 6.5k) which was way too much for a car that had been shunted up the rear (apparently much to his surprise). Also I didnt believe the mileage given the interior wear.
