Hi guys, had my '01 bugeye WRX wagon for nearly 8 years now, been an amazing car and NEVER broken down despite just hitting 100k. To be fair it has led quite an easy life as a family car with my daughter in mostly so driven sedately ( for me anyway! ) with only two rear shock absorbers and a the a/c belt failing other than service items. It owes us nothing now and I still fancy getting another couple of years out of it, but fancy a bit of a power hike to keep my interest. What is the best way to do this? Fancy about 260bhp if poss, the car is 100% as it left the factory at the mo, I think about 210bhp, and it feels like every single one of them is still present and correct! I live in Oxted, Surrey, can anyone reccomend someone to do it for me and rough cost? Will I need different plugs and air filter too? Cheers, Lee.

FWIW, I had mine done at Surrey Rolling Road recently.
If you give Charlie a call and tell him I sent you, he will be able to sort you out.

FWIW, I would invest in a free flowing exhaust and a remap. With the exhaust fitted (a used prodrive backbox is cheap and not offensively loud) 260 is achievable in about 5 minutes on the dyno.

Had my standard 03 wag on dyno'd a couple of years ago and it was producing 239bhp. Only run it on Shell V Power, so you may find that you are running more than 210 already. smile

Call ben at eurospec in guilford. They'll get it done with a lovely custom map on their rollers, then fine tune it on the road.

Lee,

I don't sell maps, just dyno time, so best if i point you in the right direction.

The 2 chaps who do Subaru mapping at mine are Duncan at Racedynamix and Simon at Jollygreenmoonster

You won't go wrong with either.

Cheers Charlie.
FWIW, I had Duncan remap mine. Top guy and excellent result so I can give a first hand positive recommendation.

Now Charlie, on the other hand.... wink

Is there a rough price for a remap? My bugeye wagon has done 130k but if she's going to go, I want her to go out with a bang! hehe
What supporting mods do you need for a 'stage one?' Panel filter, exhaust, and fuel pump?
Mine also has a 'lazy' 3rd party front 02 sensor, which although works, does it very slowly causing the car to retard ignition by up to 6 deg. I'm guessing that ought to be replaced before considering it?
Sorry for the high jack.

I wouldnt expect a lambda sensor to cause ignition retard, as it is only used on cruise and idle. Or is it throwing and error code and therefore pulling timing when the error code is present?

No error codes present/lights on. Had a live diag with a Subaru diagnostic device plugged in, hence the comment.
Was retarding under boost. Runs only on Optimax/Teso 99. Anything else i should be checking?
Its had new plugs/leads/air filter/petrol filter

Wont be lambda causing that.

Probably engine condition, mods unmapped for or fuel pump leaning it off slightly.

Ta chap. And sorry for so much O/T op.

Exhaust and filter could be enough to cause it to pull a little timing.
