Dear All,

I have a 2002 2.0ltr N/A Impreza Wagon that's now done 54k miles...so it's time to change cambelt +pulleys + waterpump. Could any of you recommend where to buy best 'bang for buck' complete kit to do this job?

Also, any of you recommend a good home mechanic who knows Imprezas and how to do this job correctly? Someone within the Oxfordshire/Berkshire area; may be a good chap who'd like to earn a little cash?

Thanks, V8250

You can source your bits off eBay. There are one or two reputable sellers on there selling good quality parts for reasonable money. Don't find yourself a chap that's wants to earn a little cash because the words 'doing it properly don't pair well with 'a little cash'. Go see a proper independent Subaru specialist where it will cost you the 'going rate' but the job will be done properly. You won't be short of good places to go in your location.

Guys, just a note/update to thank you for the Richard Cope FB Tuning recommendation. Arrived @ 9.15 this morning, all work completed by mid-day.

Richard has a very simple set-up, knows his cars very well and is good man to deal with. So thank you to Richard and I extend a firm recommendation for anyone else who may need work doing on their Subaru.

Good stuff. He didn't try and sell you a turbo and a chip did he?
Nice one Neville. Sadly, the old girl doesn't have a turbo and even chips are of only the wrapped in paper sort. Oddly, I've grown emotionally attached to the winter snotter. The 'Snowbaru' is the 2nd cheapest car I've ever bought @ only £1400, yet, she's bloomin' marvellous. Fires up on the button, buzzes down the motorway at what ever sub-100mph I ask of her [read 75-80 as haven't a heavy right foot], a tickling blast along the local country lanes...and have even carried a three seater sofa bed on the roof rails in the storms of last Novemeber; here, doing her best yawing yacht impressions where the sofa bed was acting like a huge sail. All of this brings a chuffing smile to my face seeing the fools out there spending multiple £10,000's on modern Euro-boxes...or even worse "buying" a brand new car on a personal lease type finance deal; they're barking bloody mad.

My best recommendation to all, buy a little Impreza Wagon before they're all snapped up driving
