Not for dinner, but for a spirited drive in a classic STI Impreza or an STI Bugeye/Blob Eye.

Basically im getting very close to being able to scrap enough funds together to buy a nice weekend toy. I've always loved Imprezas, but I'm not sure which one I would like to buy as I've never been out/taken out for a proper drive in one.

It will be used on the road (I doubt i'll stump up the cash for a track day) and I'll be using it to get me to and from hockey matches. So will still have to have rear seats for transporting kit and team mates.

Having done some reading I've been thinking a Classic Type RA might fit the bill.

So if anyone would like to take me out, I'll buy you lunch smile

I know its not much of an offer, but I am currently rebuilding my classic track/road car, once its done I'd be happy to take you for a spin. It may well inspire me to finish it faster!!

cant help with the ride out as mine is off the road being rebuilt currently, however, by the looks of it you are going to bve using it as a daily, so i would go for the newer car as the classics are a lot more raw than the newer softer cars, and an ra will be aweful as an everyday car, much shorter geared so a lot quicker off the mark, but a pig to live with as a daily.

alternatively, go for a classic sti wagon, best of both worlds, quick and spacious enough to carry all your gear around, this is what mine is and in 10 years of ownership never had a serious issue with her, although a lot of money spent in servicing and mods!!!!
