Map it is then.

That is incredible ved. How much did the map cost you? A mate has an sti with a duncan remap, running 330-350 and hes lucky if he sees 22mpg average.

Speak with Jolly Green Monster (AKA, Simon Roe).

You'll need most of the supporting mods that I did (see garage). The map is about £550, with subsequent tweaks costing about £150.

I'm in work atm Paul, can't see your garage on my phone for some reason but what mods needed to accompany the map? Sports cat, air filter etc? Or smaller things? Thanks.

Afterburner Vortex Backbox (loud) - or any back-box (prodrive are OK and not too loud)
Deres Centre Pipe - not required
Prodrive Decat Centre Pipe - any decat centre pipe will do
WR1 Prodrive Sports Cat - not required and as rare as rocking horse st (the other aftermarket ones are crap and wont pass MOT)
Green Cotton Panel Filer
Walbro Fuel Pump
Remap by JGM

That doesnt sound excessive.

Id be looking for a quieter backbox tbh, one that only makes the noise when youre pressing on so it can cruise fairly quietly.

Whats reliability like on the engine running that sort of power?

Engine will be fine. Its not until 400+ that you need to think about changing pistons etc. The prodrive backbox is nice, and can be had cheap on eBay.

Thats about all you will get with any turbo scooby. I have had 218bhp 280bhp 320bhp and 400 bhp and theyall used about the same amount of juice.

Yes, 'average' will be mid to low 20's assuming a mix of town and motorway driving. However, 30 is possible on a run if you stick to 75 ish (the 6 speed box also helps, compared the the 5 speed in the WRX)...

That average is fine. This car will only be for being driven as it was meant to be. As said, I have a diesel to get me to work and other such boring journeys.
